Pointless item which introduces another slip point when lifting, but some folks like them.
I just use a decent trolley jack (3 tonne) which has a proper deep pad on it and in reality the rear of the car is always jacked up by the central point so would not work in any event on those points.
EDIT for clarification - when jacking the car up high (by which I mean 50cm+) there is a significant set of lateral forces. Adding jack, pad, lifting point and car bodywork in a sandwich risks a collapse. The design linked to here is held together with just as single machine screw :thumbsdown:
