I've gone and done it....now own a Z4C

Thanks chaps. Yeah black was my first choice and I got luckily with the whole package really. Ticked all my top ten for spec/colour etc.

It does need lowering though. I can feel some eibachs coming on. Will they be compatible with 19" csls if I change them over in future?
 
Damn this place...

I now have cup holders on the way (that really annoyed me on my drive yesterday, couldn't find a single place to put my water bottle)

Yes I am. Not because I don't like the Z just because it was in my view one of the best looking cars around. It's a dream car for me. I'm moving next year and the 993 was not the ideal savings partner, ie its a wallet bomb. I can't justify ploughing thousands into it right now. I'll buy another one when I've moved and have more garage space etc. I certainly miss the noise. Mmmmm

I've always loved 993s - personally I think they're the best looking 911, especially the turbos. Which did you have?

I'm surprised about costing a lot to run, I thought they were meant to be pretty bombproof as they were made before the accountants took over and gave us the 996. What needed money spending on, just general wear and tear?

Holy cow. All dreams of a 993 being the ultimate 911 have gone!

And here was I thinking that the RMS issue on a 996 could cost a lot. These look a bargain by comparison!

Made interesting reading though and I'm sure there were many times when you thought 'well everything is fixed now so I can just enjoy it...!'
 
to be fair i do think the guy went to extremes even though on occasion some repairs were vital :)
i had a fantastic year of aircooled 911ness with a 964 tip . . bought cheap (£10k) & spent on it (£1500) then made a profit so not all porsche stories are heartache .
if its a dream then it is hard to ignore especially when there are so many 911,s at crazy prices :cry:

996s are (surely?!) as low as they're going to go before they start climbing in value. Seem to be quite reliable aside from RMS and then even (from what I read) you just need to keep an eye on the oil level. Whatever way you look at it they're an awful lot of car for the money.
