I've been quiet recently...

As some of you already know, I've been a bit quiet recently as I unfortunately crashed my Z through a hedge back in July (A month ago) and wrote it off :(

Entirely my fault, nobody else involved, nobody injured (apart from my lovely car :()

After a long battle with the insurance company, they've now paid out in full. Their original offer was 8k which I felt wasn't representative, eventually, after much wrangling, I managed to get them up to 11k which I think was much more realistic.

After the experience I've had, I would suggest you *never* accept the first offer on a vehicle (or even the second, third or fourth one). Make sure you know the legalities and don't be forced or cajoled into accepting an offer that you're not happy with.

I'm planning on going without a car for a few months and sticking some money in the bank before going out and buying something else, possibly a Z4MR, maybe something else.

:)

If it had a soft-top, I'd have been tempted, unfortunately, I've not yet got the cabrio bug out of my system :)

will be a shame if you don't get another z4

have you got no wheels at all at the moment? i could not survive without some sort of transport

i like ur thinking.

Have you seen the one on the trader mentioned for £12.5k? .. shocking. im tempted to get a second as a runabout

Sorry about your car :( goodluck finding a replacement plenty going at the moment at reasonable prices! Thanks for your post re: Darren Woods, I met the guy last Saturday as he was sorting my sisters Mini, really nice bloke who clearly knows his stuff. Going to book my Zed in their for an Oil Service (£130 +Vat) especially after calling into Liverpool Williams today, Oil Service £275 +Vat

Looks too good to be true! Write off?

Glad you got the insurance payout sorted in the end.

From your comments on twitter it sounds like you've got your heart set on "something else"! :D

Glad you've got it sorted - and your z4 had done some great trips so it went out happy!

That's true and a nice thought...

I think I did her justice - she's lapped the Nurburgring and Oulton Park, seen Le Mans and visited the Porsche and Mercedes HQ's. She was parked up next to Ferraris in the car park at Maranello, left tyre marks on the driveway of Lamborghini and even had a sneaky picture taken at BMW Welt in München.

Totted up nearly 8k miles through France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland and the UK.

Been up to the highlands, and down to Italy.

Suspect she'll be fixed as a CAT-C and turn up back on the road too...

I'm a bit torn at the moment, I'd love to get a Z4M but I'm also tempted to buy something completely different. I really can't make up my mind so I'm going to leave it until December/January and decide then. It's a better time to buy a soft-top car and it'll give me some time to decide what to buy, plus, I can stick a load of cash in the bank between now and then and then have to take out less of a car loan to buy the car.

I'm using my motorbike, I'm lucky that I don't have far to work (2 miles) and the bike will get me longer distances - I may pick up a cheap 500quid banger when the weather gets worse, but I can manage without a car for a while :)

I've seen it, it's been there a month at least (I think it's also on PistonHeads). There was something that put me off about it but not entirely sure what it was now. My list for a Z4MR is very specific;
- Must have logic7 audio.
- Must have Bluetooth phone prep
- Must have NAV
- Must not have PDC (ruins the lines of the bumper, looks ugly and is totally un-necessary on a Z4 IMHO)
- Imola Red
- Under 50k, preferably closer to 40k
- Heated seats
- Not keen on carbon dash, but wouldn't be too bothered.

It's a buyers market by the looks of it, there's plenty of cars to choose from so I can afford to take my time and be choosy about the spec. Also, the prices are dropping at the moment and cars aren't selling, even the very best spec'd models. In fact, it seems like it's only the very best of the cars that are selling, everything else has been on Autotrader and Pistonheads for weeks :\

I think I'm going to wait and see how the market goes...

Ahh excellent! I'm always hesitant to recommend places as you never know how your experience will differ from someone elses, but I'm happy to recommend him based on my experiences and all the people with BMW's in Manchester who take them to him :)

There's a definite itch. I made the mistake of having a poke about the dealers and fell in love with one.

But I can't imagine not having a Z.

It's like cheating on your girlfriend, not that I ever have or would, but I should imagine it's similar.

And probably as expensive.

Sorry to hear about your accident.... Not much of a consolation but i thought you were a damn fine driver at the wales meet earlier in the year... But glad the insurance company have done right by you.

 Glad you've sorted out the insurance. Nice Z4MR in imola red? sounds good to me.

I know, not sure where I've seen one similar but I guess it must have left a lasting impression :)

I used to think that, but a bush convinced me otherwise :headbang:

I'm still quite annoyed with myself, such a silly mistake, couple of inches too far to the left and not quite paying enough attention and... oh well.
