Its time i shared my 2016 BHP plans

I couldn't think of anything to say that wouldn't have maybe possibly come across as offensive, so decided to watch instead :D :oops:
 
Wow what a thread :o JE you crack on and build the Z4 you've always wanted. Could always try twin charged 2.0ltr forged bottom and uprated cam/valve train. Easily 400 ponies and probably a real handful. Not really my thing tho this car modding :oops:

I would listen to this man he knows his stuff!! And I had a similar idea witch means I might know a little too :rofl:
 
Now if JE could fit the engine from this into his chassis, it'd be a build thread I'd follow with more than a little interest

It would be a crime for anyone to do anything to that car - I came over all swoonful when I first saw the pics! If I wanted a bigger car that would be too tempting. :wub:

I've always said this is an option that I like. I love the sound of four pot tuned engines. You like having a unique car, this will make it a very special car, the underdog that outperforms its bigger brothers, puts a massive smile on my face.
 
If you look up "the worlds fastest lotus" on utube, the car is about 700bhp & still has the 1.8litre toyota engine, the guy's name is "ronin" he used to go on the lotus forum "seloc" but kept getting banned, his posts may still be there if you register & search.
It has a turbo & a supercharger from memory, that would be enough power I think :wink:

The new F1 cars have a 1.6litre engine. The way of the modern world small capacity forced inducted engines.

I have seen that lotus Mr Bear it really quite something. I have also seen the turbo S/C combo on big American muscle cars. And i think VW did something with a 1.5 tsi engine?? Anyone know how it works?? Do you use a turbo to feed the S/C?? or is just a small s/c for lower grunt an and to get the turbo spinning quicker?? Expensive and very complicated to build. I would stick to one or the other Johnny!!

As said 400bhp is not unrealistic and that's more BHP than most M cars. And your car should be lighter than an M also. Stick a LSD in the back and then replace and upgrade drive train if you get any problems?
 
Let's be honest, with a mere 300hp this would be pretty rapid because if it was FI it would come with a boat load of torque too. It would be near enough as quick as an M. Think of the 35i E89 - not that much slower, with similar power,
but a whole lot more weight because it's a lard arse.

Don't worry about the posting, that's what forums are for, but just do so either to seek advise (god/bad) or to state what you've decided to do, obstacles, issues to overcome, start date, etc.

This has me thinking back to that rally cross thing May was driving on TG at the weekend. That was something daft like 700bhp from a 2ltr and faster off the line than an F1 car, though probably mostly because it was 4wd. Still if you can get even half way to that then your laughing! Modding the engine that is there for absolute power is definitely the way to go, and certainly would make this a very special car.

Would expect to need 2 ECU's though if you go down a twin turbo route. Doubt the current one could be that adaptable.

That was mighty impressive at iirc 600hp from a 2ltr, but when the switch was flipped it overfueled it keeping the turbo spinning at 200,000rpm!!!
Would be loving that on a road car, setting fire to the car behind as you prepped to leave the lights.

As you say 300hp form a 2 ltr. should be readily possible and still have durability and be drivable. Given the lighter weigh that should see most Zed off on a twisty road
 
... and it is your own car, not a car with unknown history on repairs, fixes etc which you will always wonder about.
