You could always just take the car to http://www.dynotorque.co.uk and have them fit an LS1 V8

They did an E46 recently, so the Z4 should be easy for them:

Useful link not the usual negative comments, cheers fella
I dont think any of the comments are negative, they are realistic and sensible.
The way I see it there are a lot of people on here that dont want you to waste your money or your car and are commenting for your benefit.
Would you rather everybody just said "great idea, brilliant, you can do it" without giving you advice on the problems you may come across.
Its not the sensible thing to do, throwing money at something instead of upgrading to something better.
I posted this pic earlier, it is of my previous bike and the one that replace it.
I always said I would never get rid of my Exup (white one) but I was being stupid thinking it could cut it with the modern stuff and keep going forever.
Once I had a test ride on the R1 (black one) I knew I had to move on and let the other one go even though I loved it and wanted to keep it.
This is what you should do.

And I dont mean buy a bike :D

I sad I wouldn't puts agin. But this is all sensible advice Jonny.

I can't see what the attachment is to the 2.0ltr, yea what you've done is nice but it's just a Z4, you could have just gone and bought a quicker car that was just as nice for what you've spent.

Looking forward to 10 more engine threads this year

Would you swap the old girl for dubsesd's? :?

I'd go for a LS1 install...

and then gradually replace the 2.0 parts when they break for e46 330i or m3 parts......

Man on the moon was a pie in the sky idea which maybe didnt even happen.
And was making an atom bomb a good idea?

Jonny, how come all your threads turn into arguments/bitch fights/sh!t?

Because all his threads are the same, he makes a point of asking about engine or supercharger conversions, people give their experience and advice and he doesn't like that. For some reason he thinks he's the only guy driving a mint Z4 and it can never be replaced, which is a load of bollock. He's basically holding himself back from experiencing better cars and wasting a boat load of money in the process.

To me if you going to do it and be 'unique' or whatever just get on and do it, don't keep telling everyone because people get bored of reading it.

Edit - I just noticed he's had his Jonny-ism deleted from my signature :poke:

I love reading JEs threads. I understand not wanting to sell his car, and wanting to mod it. Again fine, I think it's a decent idea. I think the problem is that he lists so many bloody threads about the same thing. Buy an engine and then tell us what you're doing and why. Much more interesting reading StevieW's transplant thread, or brads Marmite build. Once you actually start doing something JE I'll enjoy reading it.

But do something special. Don't stick another Z4 engine in it, will cost loads, get nothing back and won't be particularly outrageous. I'd go with a V8 option, the LS1 would be a great idea. Then you truly would have a uniquely special Z

You started it..... :slappy:
By telling you about an idea, er no....and you always put negative things anyway so i never even read half your posts. :D
To be honest, I don't think you read half the posts anyway - the majority of people are trying to help you but you seem to take anything that questions the viability of your 'plan' or 'idea', as a negative comment

I don't believe that anything I've said on this thread has been in any way, shape or form a 'negative' comment but it seems that you don't want discussion, you just want lots of posts that support your plan, no matter how foolish it looks from outside, and say 'Wow, Jonny that's amazing' when, in truth, the only amazing thing is how much money you seem to be thinking of flushing down the toilet by insisting that you've got to keep 'your Zed' even though, if you do thing the way you seem set on, there'll be the square root of bugger all left of the original car when you've finished

Your main argument always seems revolve around the fact that you've owned the car from new but, if you take the amount you've spent (and are planning to spend) on mods, you would probably be well on the way to owning a brand-new boxster (or similar) as a replacement

As I've said on several occasions, at the end of the day, It's your money and you spend it as you see fit but IMO people are trying to help you out by asking questions and pointing out the potential problems & issues you are likely to encounter by doing it 'your way'
