ISIS

As I said above - the fact the only known Muslim on this thread doesn't think that this group killing fellows Muslims in their own mosques throughout the region, dragging the name of their religion through the mud in the process, is worthy of discussion, explains a lot of the problem. Until the Islamic world stands up to these people and deal with them themselves the problem will always be there. It's not us who suffer in the main. Frankly sporadic terrorist attacks (however horrible they may be at the time) are nothing compared to the suffering applied to millions of Muslims every day by this bunch of scum. Sooner or later they will have to do something about it themselves before it's too late for them.

We should wash our hands of the problem. Anyone who goes to Syria should be automatically barred re-entry into the UK. That's if they make it out alive from the Islamic paradise they've signed up to.

what can i say other than you and everyone else on this thread have very little awareness of what real muslims are or what they stand for because of your ignorance and lack of education

isis is a terrorist organisation and does not represent islam. now given that this is how 99.999999% of muslims feel about them, we are not giving them more power and global awareness by giving them the time of day. unfortunately many people think that by putting them in the news is the answer when that is what is making them stronger.

but whatever. since you think you have all the answers, i will let all of you carry on putting the world to rights when in fact all your doing is blowing hot air and cant do s***! however, i do look forward to you proving me wrong lol

You're right I don't. I also don't understand why you don't do s**t, ever. Like get your get your own house in order. I also don't understand why you resort to personal abuse immediately and nor do I understand why you think something is funny and not worthy of discussion after the events in Tunisia (not just because it involved Britons but because it's also severely damaged a fledgling Muslim democracy). So educate me envy....

Don't hold your breath.

Envy's head appears to be well and truly in the sand.

Until someone he loves gets killed :(.

Then do doubt he'll blame the racist police force

Travelling anti-clockwise around junc' 26 M25 7pm Wednesday we spotted 8 cop outriders and 8 hearses travelling clockwise at speed bringing bodies back from Tunisia. :(

Bring back Saddam & Gaddafi  Isis born out of Al qaeda have only flourished since the west (Blair + Bush) broke the regime that ruled then left chaos behind
The longterm future is a scary one & unlikely to be resolved overnight , i suspect the sporadic carnage will continue & we will comment & tolerate in much the same we did with IRA murders .
Not a nice world at times for supposedly civilised human beings

Excuse me?
I'll have you know I've read no less than three different translations of the Qur'an so far (I've attempted to read a 'traditional' version, but I find I struggle immensely with reading classical Arabic), have spent time talking to two local Imams to get a better understanding of the religion as a whole, what Shahadah is and how to correctly pronounce it (albeit badly), how Zakat is practiced in the modern world, the differences between Sunni and Shiah, and what the Ibadi denomination is, as I'd never heard of it until one told me of it.
I've attended a mosque both here in the UK and whilst abroad in Turkey to get an understanding of how a congressional prayer functions, and why Friday mid-day is important.
I also befriended a restaurant owner in Peterborough, who invited me to his home many times, and invited me to his brothers wedding in Pakistan, to which I went.

I started to learn about Islam in school, but chose not to pursue R.E further in lieu of other subjects.
I picked it back up in my mid twenties, and I also learnt a lot about Judaism and Buddhism back then too..

So whilst it isn't my religion, and I wouldn't say I'm anything close to an expert on it, assuming "non-followers" have very little awareness of your faith is pretty insulting, and shows you blindly follow the media, just as you claim we do.
I don't tar everyone with the same brush, and I'd have expected you to not either...

Envy seems like an ideal ISIS recruit to me - deluded, in denial, anger at the non believers

oh and full of s**t...

I have a lot of experience of Muslims and Islam from travelling and working in the middle east. At one time I was based in Libya for 2 years attempting to educate the local youth, who were apathetic to say the least.

I did become very fond of the Arab people and found Islam a fascinating religion, and became very pro Arab on the subject of Israel. I even speak a limited amount of Arabic. Unfortunately recent events have soured these positives to a large extent. I don't buy your 99.9999% statistic.

So, don't tell me that I'm ignorant and lack education.

The attack in Tunisia was horrific and my deepest sympathies goes out to those who have lost loved ones and those who have been traumatised for life. I was amazed by the courage and bravery of the Tunisian people who tried to stop the attacker. Some people irrespective of the race, religion or colour are truly inspiring...

We should be careful with rhetoric like this. It's a horrendous and difficult situation living in a world that has individuals and groups whose only goals seem to be chaos and bloodshed but that doesn't mean we should react and lose perspective on what was there first.

Yes, the downfall of those regimes has provided a perfect breeding ground for extremists to impose their will on vulnerable people but the depressing reality is that the deaths and murders that are happening now were happening in comparable numbers under the previous dictatorships. As someone with a Libyan father, I can tell you that the Gaddafi government committed horrific crimes. The only difference is that now the same barbaric crimes are happening in a louder way and the general public are of a mindset to fix the problem.

The best way to defeat these groups is foster a sense of global "togetherness". As hippyish as it sounds, these groups feed off insecure and vulnerable people that are marginalised by their own societies. If we can focus on preventing this, we can stem the growth of these groups and remove their power... without which they're just a group of barbaric cowards.

I'm all for a multicultural, free and tolerant society which makes this country so good, even if it does compromise itself and opens itself more to terrorism etc, but what irks me is how other faiths/communities moan and groan and bitch about this country and stand there with one large chip on their shoulder, stick in their own little groups and from where I'm sitting do little to integrate into English society. I think this county bends over backwards for such people who if they don't like the English way of living then they know what they can do.

With those SNP wankers in charge in Scotland it's hardly surprising England probably think Scotland want FA to do with the rest of Britain

Besides - You do know England is a Country in it's own right :poke: ;)

I refer you to my post at No 15 in this thread. Read that and get back to me.

The problem of radical Islam isn't just restricted to England tho is it? It's a threat to us all and I will comment :)

................ and everyone has an opinion lol :D so here is mine

Anyone who decides to take themselves and their loved ones to a muslim country to lie half naked on a beach and drink alcohol when .......... muslims terrorists are highly active and the terrorist threat is severe, seriously needs their head examining. That doesn't distract from the tragedy of it all, it just puts it in perspective. It also demonstrates how callous the tour operators are selling these trips without advising the holiday makers of the obvious danger. It has been known for a long time that Tunisia harbours the highest ratio of IS sympathysers.

The greatest danger that the west faces is the prospect of the muslim countries ever getting to together as a coherent group. Like it or not they own the greatest percentage of the worlds money and together they could and would destroy the western economies. This is why quite simply, the west has sponsored conflict in the middle east since oil was first discovered. Keeping them fighting amongst themselves is actually a political agenda.

If anybody is old enough, they will remember that before the muslim bombers / shooters in Europe ........ we had the Irish IRA doing exactly the same and it was just as traumatic and scary as it is now. And like the IRA terror it will go away ....... simply because it is done for no other reason than to keep them in the news, and eventually that doesn't work any more.
We have always had macho thugs with guns and we always will.

I don't believe we will do anything ......... mainly because Cameron is terrified of doing a Blair, and in general, as long as its over there, people don't care.

I am inclined to agree with you buddy having observed what has ensued since and investigating the issue beyond media reporting.
As this thread makes apparent there are manifold opinions / viewpoints garnered from personal life experience with I hope a desire to seek the truth and better understanding of a matter.
I strongly believe that discussion is the key and can only be positive as long as we keep focused on the salient. I understand topics the like of this can become emotive however extending respect and advancing your point keeping an open mind is paramount.
I note there are contributors who have taken time to try and gain a better understanding of the link between Islam and the shocking acts of violence that are taking place both here and around the world.
I am posting specifically to say that I welcome any questions regarding Islam and without wishing to undermine anyone's efforts.
I believe that this religion is the most ' practised daily ' without true understanding by it's adherents than you could imagine.
The Quran cannot be understood by simply reading it...why ?
It's a book of some 800 pages revealed over 23 years and must be read in CONTEXT of events throughout those years. A book which remains unchanged from it's original verbatim text over the course of some 1436 years.

I will say in my opinion 90% of Muslims today have no clue what they are actually saying in their 5 daily prayers let alone understand this amazing scripture which believe it or not is relevant even in 2015.
I blame myself and the Muslims in the West ( my home ) for peoples lack of knowledge about something claimed to be so dear to them.
Communication is a loss of great magnitude and I fear it's a chronic of our time irrespective of where you are in the world and is in no small way responsible for much mistrust.
