Daily (all 7 of them) every week.I give a guy a lift to work He loves getting picked up by a Shiney sports car especially when the tops down and the sun is out. My day is not complete unless i have been out in my Zed, even in the snow. great fun.

:driving: :driving: :driving:

Daily driver 350/450 mile per week. Rides a little hard at times, buts thats due to the current state of the roads and the rfts.

I had the best journey to work this morning at 6am, M25 was closed due to an accident, so i came off and dropped the roof sports button on and went through all the country lanes, never had so much fun, arrived at work with a smile on my face. :D

Purchased as a weekender but will use it daily too if the sun is out over the summer.

I would have got the 3.0si if I was using it as an only car...I had a Z4 3.0i SMG as a daily driver a couple of years ago and the MPG was bearable. Gearbox made it very easy in traffic too.

My 3.0i roadster is a fantastic daily driver.

Pros
- 30mpg average (unless it never leaves the city centre)
- servicing is the same price as a 3 series
- all the mod-cons
- comfortable. Once the runflat tyres were replaced i cant complain with the ride, even with sports suspension and big wheels. Good driving
position with plenty of adjustment.
- reliable as you would expect and the roof doesn't leak.
- big boot (for the type of car), easily fits the weekly shop and happily took two of us camping around Europe for 10 days.

Cons
-I hate leaving it in car parks. If im forced to park it next to another car i spend the whole time worrying. I think the first Z4 has one of the
greatest side profiles of any car ever made and just one trolley/door ding would bring tears to my eyes.
- Speed bumps, it really does become a chore having to slow to go over them in 1st gear (particularly when there 30 of then on each leg of my 4 mile commute!) i could go faster but i cant bring myself to smash my p&j over them.
- Long tapered bonnet makes it impossible to judge where the front of the car is when parking.

I have that issue with speed bumps now - can't believe I haven't holed my sump yet! Looks to me like its used as much more of a daily driver than I expected. And the 30mpg seems realistic - is that so?

You found your way over here Nik :) Ignore the Roadster vs Coupe shenanigans....it's basically on every thread LOL.

Daily drive here, 33k so far....clutch / gearchange on the M is a bit heavy in London traffic for more than 90 minutes or so, but otherwise it's been great

3.0 Si Coupe is my daily as I have no need for a second car at the moment (no kids, dogs, etc.). As much as I admire its M-powered brethren, I find the 3.0 more than adequately powered and the boot is a wee bit more practical. There's space aplenty for a weekend getaway and two golf bags fit with relative ease (without removing the clubs). And don't tell anyone, but I once brought home seven bags of mulch from the nursery. It even saw me safely through this past winter's record snows, summer run-flats and all.

That said, I do occasionally miss having a more "practical" car for chores, but it sounds like you already have that base covered.

i can understand those with other means of driving into crap areas in big cities just about- but how can u sit on a bus knowing u have a z at home!

wright on patty

When originally purchased, my intent was to use it as a weekend car; that's not the way things have turned out. I enjoy driving it so much that when the weather is good and I can get a safe parking place at work, it's the car of choice. Usage is about 50% of my driving.

My Roadster is my daily drive, no other way to enjoy it! My other car sits mainly unused except for when we have guests staying - saves them from getting a rental...

In fact when I'm away with work I really do miss getting in and going for a spin! Can be up to a week or so without a drive...

Cheers,

Nelson.

I drive 1.5 miles to work and from work everyday. I do have legs to walk and a bike to ride but the top down driving is so much more fun, plus i'm lazy :D

A Z4 would be wasted for weekends only imo, because it's just not a weekend type car...

Caterham, Elise, VX220, TVR, etc seem better for a weekend only car.

I suppose if you need a fairly practical weekend car because you commute via train/bus or work from home, then that is fine :D

But then I'd just have a weekend snotter for odd jobs, and a VX220 Turbo or something as a toy :D

Weekend car for me!

I live in London, about 2 miles from the office so I get the tube to work.....

This is why i took my MR2 of the road, i was using it for work and the Z4 for weekends, plus we have the Swift aswell so the Z4 just wouldnt get used much. The MR2 is going to be my weekend car as i'm making it a dedicated track car when it gets its new paint job.

Hehe, sounds fun :D

Can't beat a weekend car that is just something a bit more silly... even if it's less 'nice' than your daily car, it's cool to have something different and 'yours' if that makes sense :)
