Is there anyone in Kent with a backbox delete?

Yes it's strange that.. I'm loving it, it's changed my driving style now, I love the burble .
Stopstart traffic now is a thing of joy. :D . From 1000 - 2500rpm it burbles and gurgles nicely.. Or is that me... Tug was in it today, said it sounded nice, and he is anti noise.
It's fair to add I don't like taking it on motorways though, and I cirtainly don't have to drive to work on a motorway. Having retired it's a glorified shopping trolley and I have never enjoyed going to the shops as much as I do now
And Erm.. Full on hooning of course :D

I always though the real appeal of the modded backboxes was they sounded good but didn't drone. Is this not true?

good question.. maybe sitting at a steady motorway speed its discernible. -i could feel the potential for a drone on my standard back box, some engines do that, mine is the 3.0.se 231 bhp and NB has the 2.5si i believe. so different engines - so im reasoning he will be running higher revs for the same speed which might just sit on a drony bit.. dunno
all i know is mine dont . but ask tug, as he is the only one with a zed that has been in it since the mod on monday.

Certainly in my 2.5si sitting in 6th gear at 60 was not nice. Possibly it was the combination of the resonator and back box, I don't know.

I do miss the crackles and pops on overrun and tunnels are not as fun, but mines a daily driver and weekend tourer, not an occasional drive or dedicated track day go kart.

My best option might have been to hold on to the DLV box and swap it over when I wanted more noise, but it's a good 30 minute job each time.

The standard box has not dented performance in any way, but maybe my overtakes are a bit more stealthy now!!

I was thinking about your experience with boy racers and have yet to indulge. I am enjoying the knowledge I can and not needing to prove it. I do hope this isn't a sign I'm growing up, but I doubt it. :D

When you say the combination of resonator and backbox do you mean you had the resonator removed as well?

Felix, got a link to your cars fame? Do we now need to call you anything special? Such as "as seen on youtube'- Felix?

here we go - no drone - just a glorious noise as a zed 4 should have :D as some report it can drone, and nobody is quite sure of the parameters of that, i would maybe say if you use motorways regularly, a delete is unwise, maybe unfairly, but a z4 e85 would be my last choice for long distance driving anyway

No, it's an otherwise standard exhaust, but I understand the resonator is different for different engines, so this could explain the difference.

Can't believe how different that sounds! Mine sounded nothing like that at lower revs, only really sounding good when revved hard.

Mine drones a little, with the roof up and 5th/6th gear under heavy throttle but when i'm cruising at 70ish I don't tend to have my foot planted so only lightly pressing and it's fine.

It's a weekend/fun car only so not bothered about extra noise, we went on a few long road trips last year and the wife never complained so it cant be that bad
