Guys just a quick question and would like honest balanced answers............Now i always believed that a coupe was a two door version of a car and has a boot (trunk for our american friends) as in a Mercedes CL and that a car with 3 or 5 doors (one for entry to the boot space) such as a focus or golf was a hatch back, now looking at this arrangement.......shouldnt the Z4C atually be called a Z4 hatchback...if not....Why not?

If nothing else, BMW call (called) it a Z4 Coupe... so even if you take issue with the word coupe, its part of the name of this car.

Coupe - strictly speaking, only the metal part of the boot would open, hinged under the glass.

Hatchback - the entire back end including the window opens. Is the V6 Clio with only 2 seats a coupe ? No.

Marketing speak over the years has pretty much obliterated what used to be clearly definable hatchbacks, saloons, estates, coupes, convertibles, cabriolets, spiders etc etc. Every one wanted their own better sounding one, so along came fast-backs, sport-backs, and a general bastardisation of well known types of car. All IMHO anyway. Much the same as the debates you hear over ///M badges or S-line etc being diluted and becoming less meaningful.

Technically, it's not a coupe in the traditional sense. But I'm still getting one and they look epic. Also, as already stated coupe is part of the name.

That's just factually incorrect, and you know it. The Z4 roadster is the best looking car in the world. :fuelfire:

:D

Yes so now prospective buyer can choose between the Z4 Roadster or the Z4 hatch.................
