Is new Z4M coming?

i read a lot of articles here in germany saying there will not be a new Z4M because of the economics.
they will bring a M aero kit for the current Z4 but not a new engine.
One thing is for sure in three years u never know what can happen. let's hope for the best

They said they wouldnt make a Z3M, they did. They also said they wouldnt make an E85 Z4M, they did that one too. Now since they already have a Z4 GT3 racer with the 4.4lt V8 from the M3 GTS i'm fairly confident they'll eventually produce a genuine Z4M.

if they think they can sell them and make money, it will happen, every thing happens for a reason, er thats profit

It won't have the V8.

It will have the inline turbo 6pot from the forthcoming new "1 Series M Coupe" which itself is derived from the 135i/Z4.35i

From a developmen cost point of view that's the only way i can see them doing it. I'll stick with the NA engine, not at all impressed with the 135i myself

You say that, but the Z4 GT3 has the V8.. so here's hoping. Agreed though, I'd buy one if 8 cyls, probably not if 6t.

I still think the V8 will be used, the 1M engine won't be sufficiently different from the 35is to make sense otherwise.

The M versions of the Z cars have always been parts bin specials and the V8 will be getting phased out of the M3 just in time.

x2

Also the new AMG version of the SLK will still have a V8, maybe even turbocharged, so the extra ponies and kudos of the V8 might be a necessity.

We've posted this lots of times.. E89 + V8 = We'd all buy one.

Hopefully these threads have been spotted in Munich too.. 8)

Roll on the group buy in 2012.

Pretty sure if the next M3 is a 6-in-line, any future Z4 M will follow suit.... unless of course they need to get rid of any surplus stock of V8's ? :?

You E89ers could just do a retrofit V10?

I think Bob in the comments section below the article makes some interesting points.....

Well, Audi TT fans *say* they’ll buy the RS. That remains to be seen, tho…

Until then, here’s some market data:

1). In the US, sales for the German entrants in this market segment — BMW Z3 & Z4, Porsche Boxster/Cayman, M-B SLK, and Audi TT — peaked in 2000. For 2009, sales for the group were off ~78% from peak.

Welcome to the New Economy!

2). During same time period, 2000 -> 2009, Audi of America saw the sales of their TT fall ~84%.

Good Luck(!) to Audi if they think these promises will materially alter the overall trend in the marketplace.

In my estimation, these same trends were contributing factors for BMW to take the E89 upmarket; switchng production from Spartanburg to Regensberg.

These data figures are for Audi but represent sporty cars that people treat themselves to by all manufacturers really. :(

A Z4 with a V8.... im still very doubtful :(
