Is it acceptable to de-badge an M???

Not quite the same thing..

I would definitely not call an M badge iconic in the same way or unique anymore, especially as some people feel they can put them on cars that arnt even BMWs!

Sorry I disagree ! I think that the "M" badge is iconic - sticking "M" badges on a non "M" car is like having turbo decals down the side of an XR3 that is a standard Ford Escort - that's fine if that's what you want to do but please let's not lose the "M" value !!

As much of a fanboy that I am for the classics from the M division of the past, I'd agree that the M badge has lost value, just as AMG has for Mercedes.
 
the badging 3 series with m badges has gotten so bad that no joke, I'm asked more often than not ''is that an actual M car?''

A couple of revs normally sets them straight but still makes me laugh.
 
Interesting topic. I've actually had a few comments about it being "badged up". I think it's the ones on the wings that make those not in the know think I've popped into Halfrauds on the way home...
 
M badge totally devalued, what happened to BMW's we don't need turbos for power? No M3 coupe/convertible surely the most iconic M car! M badges on 116 says it all! Z4M badges were over the top, too big too many, better without. :fuelfire:
 
Is it the light or the camera, but your badges look extra chromed and classy! Are they the OEM ones from new or did you buy again from the dealer?
 
Brand new oe from the dealer - I say brand new, I've had them 4 years since I got the car, the dealer supplied them as part of the deal to buy

I guess the shine is just the bright sunlight, did wipe over with an microfibre, but nothing else.
