ipod charging

i have had the lead fitted to the rear of the stereo to play my ipod thro.(ipod connector not aux or usb) prob is it doesnt charge. i was advised on a convertor i could use but after asking in the apple shop they didnt know. has anyone used one? its an ipod nano 5th gen i want to charge. thanks andrew

I've bought one of these for my iPhone and it works perfectly with the BMW interface.

I have the BMW iPod connector kit (that's what I think you are referring to ) in my F/L 07 and the Nano 5G charges fine .The kit was supplied in Feb 2010.
My kit could be an updated version to handle the Apple change to charging pin setup ??? Don't know

i brought a schosche passport thing today.£20 and chargers now. thank god the independant shops know what ther talking about!!
