Ipod nano or usb stick for music tracks?

USB stick all day long. Best thing is me and the wife have different ones (she has crap tastes in music) which can just be unplugged and plugged into a different car instantly. And flash drives are pennies these days.
I worked out that I could get 1000 albums on a single 16gb USB flash drive if I had that many! :)
Sorry for reviving an old thread. I just got my z4 and have had no luck getting the car to read my usb memory stick. I took the memory stick I've been using in my other car for a couple years, inserted into USB A port in front of gear shift. Under media the stick does not show up on my list of options. I expected a prompt of something to show me when I plugged it in.

I read the manual about this but was of no help, the files are mp3 and ma4 and stick is formatted fat 32. I also watched an older bmw vid on you tube that talks about importing the music stick into the car. Is this required or can I just play off the stick?

Is this an E89..two possible usb ports ..one at the back of the central armrest ..one on the glovebox..

Glovebox one loads music onto the idrive if you have it..the other allows WMA/mp3 to play direct back

Sorry this is a G29, it has the USB a port in a little cubbyhole in front of the gear shift. THe USB c port is in the back of the console where the cupholders are.

As an fyi, I tried another memory stick, plugged in and recognized it just fine and played perfectly!!
