That does tie in a little with going to Germany recently, although each time I've been there it's picked up a signal well. Since getting back from the last trip it has been suffering the connection issues.

Getting a new sim every time you make a trip abroad could get tiring...

It's not a new SIM each time. Was a one off fix. I've been in and out of Europe 3 to 5 times per month (probably 50 times total) since and never a single issue.
 
If your having problems format it and start again usually solves problems on any format.

Ive had them since dot... iPhone, 3G, 3Gs, 4, 4s and got my dad a 5 for chrimbo and I really like it. So does he.
