key note will just be about the 4.0 os and the next iphone, the 4.0 os will be on the ipad too, but no major announcements on the ipad. this is the thing with apple products, if you want one buy it as soon as they come out, as 12 months later it will be refreshed. prices never seem to drop either which is good for 2nd hand values too.

im considering selling my tom tom now as ive seen you now get a brodit car mount for the ipad :fuelfire:

Hi

Traveling to Donegal Ireland in the Z today, first long trip and so far it's been fantastic. It really does have GT and sports car qualities, the four hour drive from Bedford to Holyhead swept by. I had difficulty finding the port address on the damn BMW sat nav. It really is proving to be a liability by not using full post codes, anyway, iPad to the rescue, google mapped the post code and found a near by street, that worked. The iPad is appears to be a lot faster than the iPhone for browsing, even when on 3G,.

The Ferry is just leaving now so I'll update you on my adventures later.

The keynote could be about anything and everything, Apple are always secretive about the content.

iPad sat nave sound great, and considerably better and cheaper than my BMW nav

yes the keynote will be a general apple results / how they are doing thing, its pretty much a given iphone gen 4 is being announced along with 4.0 os for iphone/touch/ipad. ive heard rumours that mobile me will be opened up to everyone for free, but charge for the more premium aspects, such as remote wipe of devices.

There're also rumours of new OS X (10.6.4) and new Safari 5, as well as a possible mac mini refresh. Making me wish my bank account was healthier :(

Really don't understand the extreme reaction to the i-pad.

It's just another new product on the market.

Sure Apple have made great claims for it - what do you expect - read the manufacturers' claims for most new products prior to their release - they want to sell them!

You can't blame Apple for their clever (and successful) marketing strategy - in fairness to a great extent built on fact.

Sure, the i-pad offers little that can't be found in other products, but Apple do offer just about the best quality products available - and you have to pay for quality - as with cars.

By comparison, every year car manufacturers bring-out yet more models that do the same as the previous ones did - usually for more money - yet we both accept and even welcome this as progress.

So, let's lay-off Apple, who are only doing what BMW do - making new products that offer a little more than the existing ones do, for more money.

(But in the process push technology forward a notch for everyone?)

I wouldn't say they push technology forward. I think what apple are experts at doing is improving how technology is implemented and make it more accessible to the masses.

I bought a 16gb 3G iPad last week (actually typing this on it) and honestly love it. It doesn't do anything new or fantastic, but i find it a pleasure to use the internet on it. It's extremely responsive and I find the selection of apps are really what makes the device. 3G in my opinion is essential and must say I'm impressed with the 3 network. 16gb for me is probably the right size, particularly with a 10gb monthly download limit which means I can stream away!also couldn't justify the price for the 32/64gb for what is essentially a toy.

I love it. It really is a luxury item which I could quite easily live without, but I'm sure I'll find myself relying on it more and more over the coming weeks for simple web browsing/emailing,

Sure, but I think it would be harsh to deprive Apple a small acknowledgement for some technological innovation in the i-pad?

Am just wondering what the ipadders will do now the new iPhone is out. I mean it's new and from Apple so presumably it's a must.

But for someone who already has the old iPhone, the ipad, an iPod, a MacBook thingy, and an ipod touch too,....surely the overlap in capabilities will be too great for them to go out and also buy this new iPhone aswell (?).

It does have a really high resolution screen though.....so.... maybe just one more purchase.

I second what ferrelscent said....mostly. Seeing what they are featuring for the Iphone 4 and having a general idea for the ipad....makes me think the only reason for the ipad is the larger screen.

*edit* oh and with 2 ipads you can link the piano app together (maybe more than 2 pads) and do dual person piano!

For me unless the price is sub £100 for a new iPhone on a £35 a month contract I'll be ipad & a htc desire as I fancy a play with android so best of both worlds. New iPhone looks great, but hi Rez screen on a phone? Wasted I think! A lot of the new additions I don't need, and I've come round to the idea that havIng both is a waste. After using the big screen on the ipad the phone seems cramped.

I think it's hilarious that the ipadder who has been setting up dummy id's to vote for awesome has stopped at exactly 51% !!!! But good effort for the extraordinary rise from 37% 3 days ago.

Was using my laptop last night for the first time in ages. Does it feel clunky and old using a track pad and pointer to navigate the screen now!!
