iPad in the UK [Poll added]

I still have doubts about iPhone! I was doubtful before I bought it, even more doubtful now I've got it 
Its a great gadget and a fashion statement. But I really cant find apps I couldn't live without (obviously with the exception of phone/text). In fact the only apps that gets used with any regularity are iPod, safari, google map and accuweather. Most phones now days come with MP3 player so iPod bit isn't anything unique. Web browsing is the one special bit I use on iphone but only when I forget my tomtom or when I'm out and about (and even that can be easily avoided) and need to check something.
On the otherside, it wont let me do what my 3 years old sony phone let me do - predictive text alteration, using own music/video as ring tone, camera with flash, non digital zoom, battery change (!) etc etc. In particular its mile behind my last phone (C920) on the camera front - so I now have to carry a chunky phone & a camera!

There will eventually be a small but significant market for tablet style PCs. But people won't be paying 600 quid for them and they will never replace the laptop.
Still waiting for an ipad user to tell me how you hold it and type at the same time (asked twice).
And would also be interested if any of them could comment on why this revolutionary item is nowhere to be seen out in public. Has anybody seen one other than in a shop or in somebodies home ?

Used mine all week in Skye and I'm lying in bed after great weeks hol typing in bed with one hand holding it and one finger typing. Not a problem at all.
I didn't need one as such as have works laptop, but me and wife have iPhones(3G) and an iMac at home and the total integration is superb((ps wife also has iPad too) and a blackberry).
Both ipads are 64gig and 3G.
I just download photos from Skye etc and my architect sent me drawings etc to it via email as my wife is in Disneyland for three weeks so I've also forwarded them to her.
It's not perfect but neither is a Z4
but we love them too

OK I've got it now. From what you describe it's a revolutionary replacement for a smartphone, not something to replace laptops on which you can type properly

Whatever our opinions of Apple Gizmos, and from my point of view I'm not an Iphone or Ipad fan,one has to admire a marketing strategy that enables a less than perfect product to become such a huge part of social life . . .almost a form of mass hysteria some would say, just look at the number of posts on our forum . . .not that I'm suggesting that any of us is hysterically massive . .

My missus is regretting me getting the iPad lately! I have downloaded a great synthesiser app and been driving her crazy playing old 80's hits on it!! 
Well the old UK band Squeeze uses an iPad!

Have to say ive been so busy all ive done is get it syncd and arrange a few apps. Not having the camera roll off my iPhone 4 is a pain though..... Ive heard you can drag and drop the camera roll folder off the iphone onto your laptop with a 3rd party explorer though???
Must say people thinking its hard to type are wrong, if you must have it on you lap like a netbook... they arent great either... Best thing is cradle it in one arem type with the other....
Any MUST HAVE APPS lads?

Actually I have a table with a wonky leg which needs propping up with something. An Ipad would be ideal.
Really don't get the whole Apple thing personally.
