Internal Convertible Roof Tear

That's too bad. You tried thought  What are the disadvantages of removing the catch mechanism? Was there any kind of restructuring to the hood of the facelift model that made the catch mechanism unnecessary (leading to its removal ) ?

Apparently you can remove the mechanism, but I couldn't figure out how to get it off without some serious trim removal, and it does appear to be holding the roof locked when down. There are a couple other places I am going to try and felt up in the mechanism. Need to get my craft kit out again...

My squeak has gone :D

In my third pic on page 2 you can see the catch and where the plastic has worn away / broken off. This is where the roof catch itself sits - I wrapped the bit in the photo on either side in felt (finally) and the squeak is gone... And has been gone for weeks now :yeah:

I am sure the felt will wear through and will need replacing, but it is a real simple thing to do - such little effort to solve such an irritating problem.

just had to buy this part as i broke off a couple of the hooks - cost me £50 so be careful when to remove and replace it

Agree you need to be careful - I sheered the edge off one the teeny hooks at the very top corner, however it still fits fine. You really need to get a long screw driver in to press the top inner hooks back, which is fiddly with a torch in your mouth to see - was it one of those you broke ?

yep, both of them!

saying that its probably been cooked by the sun the past 10 years, plus the fact the amount of times i have removed it
