Insurance for mods - phew

I'm with Ahem... ... Diamond which has been much cheaper than Adrian Flux on the M ( opposite situation on the 3.0) all mods and factory options declared.

Methinks a quote with AF sooner than later is in order, the value of my mods aren't OTT, but still peace of mind, cheers folks

Not necessarily of you talk to them. I went through all the extras in my cars and they are all covered (factory ordered ones).

Charged me:

Heated seats 20
Parking sensors 20
Satnav 20

Then there is my discovery

Towbar 20
Headrest screens 20

Just annoys me!!

If that's true that is shocking - but my policy is an old one and haven't done any mods, so haven't seen any ill effects, my premium has gone down over the years too so haven't felt the need to look elsewhere...

But will be shopping around next renewal cycle just in case...

Ps who did you end up with ?

I went to Chris Knott in the end.
Cost me a little more but I'd rather deal with someone UK based and who I feel will give me the cover I need should the worst happen.

Same with me. Admiral have been great so far

Changed my policy to add my CSLs no charge.

Not even the admin charge they try on?

Still can't believe how much of minefield car insurance is, it's not like it's a new thing or a constantly changing industry...

PS. has the forum ever attempted a group buy for insurance cover/renewal?

Nope said I wouldn't pay it… so I didn't lol Been with them for nearly 5 years so was worth not charging than to loose custom I suppose.

You do not have to declare factory options, I've never met one insurer who said you do or would charge for them!

Admiral does and Churchill before that did as well. It says something like "all additions including factory fitted options"

That seems bizarre, especially as unless you have a build sheet what regular joe would know what was extra or standard assuming its a second hand car. Admiral charged me £27 to "cover" CSL reps of which £20 was a fooking admin fee. The joke is they won't actually pay Out on aftermarket wheels if I smash them up or they get stolen.... Complete scam

was pleased as my renewal came in at £645.28 with every single nut and bolt declared with 5 track days allowed..... and i can add another 100hp for no additional cost.... expensive compared to what a lot of you are paying but for the mods, not bad i thought....
