Home and business with them but they couldn’t beat Chris Knott for my z4 and my wife’s Focus was a lot cheaper. As above real people, real office and really nice in both cases. Had enough of Hastings Direct.
There doesn't seem to any 'general rules' with insurance anymore. It does seem to be very specific to the insured, I think maybe because insurance databases have so much information on all of us these days.
A good example is my daughter. She is 18, only five months experience with a full licence and has a Mini Cooper (not the cheapest to insure). Her premium was just £600 in May this year. Her peers (girls not boys) with the same 'risk' as her are paying at least double that figure. I put it down to her 'risk' being associated with ours. Again, I don't know, but I'm sure it's not because they like the look of her.
I pay pennies for insurance, whether car or home, and have done for years. I have no idea why.
And yet I have approached the likes of Chris Knott for quotes in the recent past and they have been massively uncompetitive for me. Much much more expensive than the 'mainstream' companies. Again, I have no idea why.
