Instant access savings accounts

The FSCS guarantee is why I need to open another account as it only covers £85k per person per licence; and that I'm only getting 3.5% at present with the Coventry BS (but I like them as they actually answer the phone and the accounts are easy to manage).
Agree that the 5.15% is very good and it isn't a bonus rate, just a variable standard. Only very slight downside is it only pays the interest annually. I like monthly but it isn't a deal breaker.
It's not the risk I am concerned about; just how easy the bank/ account is to deal with TBH.

What is £85k Insurance not enough?
Some of us don't have anywhere near that, lol

Work harder! :poke:

Hey,I work plenty hard enough.
Obviously just don't earn as much as some folk like yourself, who like to say "look how much I've got" in a roundabout way,by putting on a public forum that £85k insurance for savings isn't enough for them
A roundabout way of bragging how much spare money you have

Some would call that showing off,lol

I was persuaded by my dear wife to have a go at Premium Bonds. I’m six months in, invested the max £50k. Each month brought a hundred or two, then this month I scooped a £5k prize, so I’m well happy! :D

My late mum had the maximum premium bonds. She hadn't won anything for a good few years. She died a couple of weeks ago and has won twice since! Reminds me of the Alanis Morissette song (ironic).

Bloody nightmare for probate calculations!

Oh ffs Craig, is there anything you don't get offended by?

If you read the original post, it was purely asking if anyone had experience of the banks. That's all.

I was only asking as my mother has just died, so has left me money! Fueckwit!

Whats with that tone, and calling me a fuckwit?
You came on here with a thread joking about folk on here earning alot, having alot of spare cash, and joking about them retiring at 45....
Yet go onto say that £85k savings insurance isn't enough for you....
That's alot of money to alot of us on here,Pondrew....
And I was equally as joking in my responses, hence the lols, etc
So quit with the name calling....

And p s,I wasn't offended by any of your previous post.... even the name calling,as that's just juvenile :tumbleweed:

I’ve got my savings in YBS, they often email you to notify of new loyalty accounts paying point of %higher than current, easy to transfer to new acc

Sorry to hear about your mum bud, our condolences

My father in law has the max £50K invested in premium bonds and has done this for around 1 year. Admittedly he wins something every month, anything from £50 to £500. Over the year he has had more cash back than sticking it in the bank with a decent interest rate and there is always the slim chance you may win something big…….

I've had money in "Chip" for a while now.
Instant access with no limits on amounts or penalties on withdrawals. Interest rate is 4.84%
I have a £20 refer a friend code but for both of us to qualify for the £20 each the friend would need to deposit £5k and leave it for 6months. Seems such a pathetic incentive for a pretty large deposit and long period of time.

Some while ago Premium Bonds were supposed to be good

"Supposed to be" sounds about right.

I only put £100 in them in 2006 and cashed them in for £100 in 2021 but never won anything in 15 years - total waste of time! :(
I have the exact opposite experience.

Have the individual maximum which could we could have used to pay off the mortgage 3 years ago. But as we are only paying interest at 2.5% fixed for another 2 years we decided to leave it in the Premium Bonds. So far winnings have paid the monthly mortgage for the last 3 years and provided £3K profit.

Still hoping for the big one though.
