Dont like that garage at all.skelters said:Mine was booked into a Glasgow based BMW Dealer for Inspection II. Won't name them but it would be close to Braehead Shopping Centre.
They took all the details about 1 month ago. Still waiting on a price.
Phoned back two weeks ago and was told they didn't have any details.
Gave them the details again and still waiting on a price.
Will be cancelling it tomorrow as a local Indy is doing it next week.
If they can't even get back to me about the price of Inspection II then there's no way they'll be touching my car.

If you've got the schedule with the service book then have a look at that, make sure you're happy with everything on it and that they are too. i.e. Depending on the last service you may not need the cabin and/or air filters changed. Easy enough to check these yourself and decide.
Anything that isn't listed on there that you want doing add and ask for an upfront quote (quote and estimate being two different things) the same for any 'additional charge' items on the schedule. As I said, I would definitely have the box and diff fluids changed - double check the SAE viscosity required and make sure you're both on the same page as to what is going in (you may find it cheaper to get them yourself depending on their mark-up and if they carry stock).

I checked the air filter recently, as that's a good indication of whether the servicing schedule has actually been carried out. As you can see its as clean as a whistle![]()

I will ask for the gear box and differential oil to be changed as you suggest (along with engine oil and filter obviously). Skelters has sent me links to oil, plugs filters etc., but I trust my Indy (been with him for years) and may just let him source the parts.

You do know that the side of the air filter in the pic SHOULD be spotless don't you, it's the other side that's exposed to the incoming air..
