Inspection 2 service?

Lovely cheers for that Tom
I do not own the car yet so had nothing official indicating this check needs to be done, the dealer said they would get the valves measured and adjusted, the cars on 60000 miles,. As this was not done during its inspection 2 do you think any damage could have been done to the engine?

Have you viewed the car yet ?
If not why not ask for a walkround video including coldstart + tickover with bonnet up

That's a tricky one to answer, quite possibly not if the gaps have remained constant and no shimming adjustment required, and some owners do report no adjustments have been necessary. I'd say that's a rarity though and usually there will be adjustments required, if not attended to then at some point as a minimum you'll have poor performance and cam wear, leading to follower wear, leading to possibke crank damage.. But that would take some time.
In an ideal world you'd be there when they were doing the shim check and you could then see the state of the cams /followers and if any valves were way out of spec. If they're not willing or that's not possible get them to take some pics of said items and post them up on here or m3 forums. If they're not damaged I can't see any other harm could have come to the engine from the lack of the valve check, I stand to be corrected though.
