Well I guess it had to happen. Stupid girl backed into my car (thank god in a parking lot with me stationary). I found out after from a witness she was talking on her cell phone. I was waiting off a small little one lane drive just shy of a parking lot beside double yellow lines (can't recall if that makes me in the wrong too-if ya'll could clarify it'd be nice to know ahead of time) and out of the corner of my eye I see giant red SUV reversing towards me. Unfortunately I wasn't in gear and only had time to blow the horn. Of course that didn't help and crunch. As you can see from pics it damaged the fender pretty good and when I attempted to drive away something was rubbing. I'm hoping it was just a panel catching the tire, but erred on the side of caution and had it towed. The garage put me in a fairly brand new 5618 miles! black Citreon V2. I have more power riding a bicycle! Funny side note...The Citreon has less trunk space (counting the back seat) than the Z4 does.

The Brandon Body Centre doesn't have a hunter equipped alignment, so I guess they won't be checking the full alignment. (Only vaguely worried about alignment). Either the serviceman didn't know that most of the car is the same p/n no matter US/UK, or he was telling me that because he didn't think I knew....that didn't rub me the right way, but hey the parts could be different in that area due to the wheel being on the wrong side.

So pertinent questions ya'll could help me with....

Does anyone have any experience with Brandon Body Centre located in Lakenheath, Suffolk? (I'm looking now to see where the nearest BMW authorized repair place is... looks like Bury St Edmonds...not far at all) So should I worry about getting it towed to BMW after this place pretty much has it logged in and will estimate tommorow? Or should I just trust that USAA is not JUST looking for the cheapest bubble gum and duct tape repair?

What should I look for if I let the insurance have their way and get it repaired there....I know the obvious stuff such as gaps, opening closing of doors/bonnet etc, I'm asking about part's and little things I won't think to look for.

Here are the pics (more than one)...

And because I know some of ya'll don't want to follow a link, here is a close pic of the damage.

Aebous, sorry to hear of your misshap - no one injured which is the main thing. Yellow lines not an issues UNLESS you were actually parked there rather than just stationary waiting to move off. Certainly doesn't excuse the other drivers liability but if you were 'parked' then the insurance companies may dispute a degree of liability. Then again if you have a witness to say she was on the telephone Gods on your side! Worked in and around your area for quite a few years but unfortunately no knowledge of Brandon Body Centre but they have a well constructed web site as below.

Surely that just a new wing/fender required.

End of Thread :poke:

LOL, yeah true. I'm oddly not overly ticked off about this. I guess that means I've grown up and can accept the fact that it's metal and can be replaced. I will say though, I'm pretty sure her husband will not let it go and well I'm sure there will be much yelling at their house.

Yeah the website looked good, the shop looked good. Hell even their paint guy drove a 2.5l 2003 Z4 with the ellipsoids and told me he'd make sure they treat it extra good. So I'm not too worried about them, I just hate bringing the car to pretty much an unknown place. I asked around work, no one knew about it which is odd cause there were several accidents last winter but I guess they went to the other USAA place in Mildenhall (a few people had bad experiences there). Either way, USAA is guarantee'n the work will be done to my satisfaction and for life - so I'll probably just keep it there. Hey maybe we will get lucky and get a new forum member out of this....(I'm going to attempt to persuade him to make a home here)

If it's any help Carrs in Bury St Edmonds don't have a repair centre, or at least they didn't when something similar happened to me. Although they took the Zed and quoted the repairs were carried out a body shop in Long Melford (can't remember exactly where), but I do remember getting a call from Tracker telling me my car was moving without the ignitiion being turned on. :D

OUCH sorry to see that mate thats a typical 4x4 driver where i live fucking hate people on mobiles when driving and its getting worse they drive along texting these days :x :x :x

so you are waiting, near a parking lot, with empty spaces, on double yellow lines, in a low sports car, behind a 4WD, with a stupid girl driver, that has to reverse out, ?

Am I the only one that thinks it was a 'stupid' place to wait? :D

Ouch - not good.
Well it can be made better, just damn annoying.

Hoep you go the witness name and noted the time as if she was on the phone it can be checked and traced.

People have a funny habit of changing stories overnight and by 9 am tomorrow her husband may have helped her remember a 'story' that you drove out into her.....

Lol, yeah gookah, it wasn't the best spot for me. Honestly while I was waiting I suppose I should of been more alert. Pretty sure I could of avoided it if I would of been focused more outside the car. I'm fairly sure she had been in her car the whole time. If i'd have noticed her getting ready to leave i wouldn't of stopped there.

On the double yellow line thing.. I once reveresed into a car "waiting" on double yellows, I was in a works van with very limited rear vision. The company fought the claim and did not have too pay out as the other car was classed as parked .. Things may have changed in the 20 years since..

sorry to see you got it too ...

we are so small and have to have eyes everywhere ... something to think about :)

LOL see you point but totally immaterial - could've been a kid on a bike. Person in 4x4 obviously didn't check their mirrors sufficiently...
