Inkey$ 335i build thread

Black front kidneys on.

Fingers cut to shreds. Much harder to get off than the E85/86!

Very nice! What did you use the drill for though...? :?

Looking forward to seeing how the tinting comes along!

Torx screwing/unscrewing. Nothing too severe!

First weekend out and about proper in the 335i. Very impressed with the power delivery from the twin turbos.

Eye watering if you have the computer set to current mpg - foot down instant power = 7-9mpg, average on Monday during trip to Canterbury on M2 = 23mpg but if I wanted fuel economy Id have bought a Prius so decided to just not look anymore :)

Reckon with normal inkey$ style driving I'll get around 300 miles to the tank, so that's a few fill ups en route to Cornwall in May.

Overall though I'm pleased with the 335 package and some of the toys are fun. Really do need to ditch the rft's as there a fair amount of tramlining and they don't flatter the ride.

More updates on life without an M when I have news :)

Latest update on the 335i. Thule Wingbars fitted and ready for family sized Kamei Husky roofbox.

Kamei Husky roofbox installed; looking 'family stealth' ;) Ready for some serious mpg reducing en route to Cornwall next week.

LIFE WITH 335 UPDATE: Also washed the car for the first time today. Felt guilty I'd been neglecting her and it needed doing before the roofbox went on.

Took her for a quick spin afterwards and enjoyed the noise; a sort of turbo rumble that vibrates through the car. Quite an enjoyable experience although still trying to find the perfect seat and wheel setting.

Might need to check the springs too as there's a tapping/rattle type noise from the rear near side when turning right/going round roundabouts.

Other than that I have a few hundred miles ahead soon for our Cornish adventure, and 8 month old mini-inkey$ will be in the back for more than a few hours. Fun times ahead on those small twisty roads!

Is the mpg worse than the ///m?
I'd say about the same, give or take. Normal driving = approx 26mpg. Going to reset and see what Cornwall comes in at which will be a mix of motorway roof box and tiny roads without roof box.

Halfway to Cornwall via M3, A303 and A30. So far, fully laden getting an amazing 28mpg! The 335 is shaped like a brick and Im getting that! Seen a few Zeds too.

This was the scene this morning. Only two of the bags are mine and my gf; the rest is mini Inkey$ holiday entourage.

Got 3 weeks before we hit the med in ours , 3k roundtrip & just pondering roofbox or not ? they are handy but certainly don't help MPG on a long trip /
When the box was on our Touareg the difference was 4/5mpg :o only used it the once

I'm actually surprised its not worse on mine. Had visions of 20mpg. 3k trip to the med will be fantastic. Reckon go for saving space and take less.

Back from our week away in north Cornwall. Other than the mistake of choosing a week to visit that contained a few days of hard rain, storm winds and that was sandwiched between two weeks of glorious sunshine, the 335 performed well.

The roofbox was stuffed full of toys, feeding gubbins and toys. The boot packed floor to ceiling with buggy, travel cot and more bags. 300 and something miles later and I was getting 28mpg after combined roads and not sparing any horses. Added weight and shape didn't seem to affect the drive much at all and returned home yesterday after the entire trip/Cornish C road hacks etc on 25mpg exactly.

If you're looking for a family option then the E90 is still performing well. It's no MC of course but the turbos do let you have plenty of fun - as I did with a new M3 yesterday on the A30 ;)
