Inkey$ 335i build thread

So I've been on e90post and asked a few things etc. Absolutely no offence to anyone there as I've been welcomed etc, but I prefer the Z4F for my car kicks and banter. Spent far too many hours here in a few short years so I feel my preference is justified.

As the title suggest I have decided to start a non-Zed related thread of life with the 335i in case anybody finds themselves in a similar situation to me - first born, releasing your dream MC and looking for four doors and isofix options etc. I'll log mods, my experiences, frustrations, lament the loss of my MC at every given opportunity and generally keep this thread dedicated to the realism of fatherhood, its trials and its tribulations.

And who knows; maybe the final post of this thread will one day see me go full circle and as a fully fledged Zed owner once more

Okay, so here's the 335i. Won't go into too many details other than she's a sapphire black, 2007 E90 saloon, twin turbo, half a second to 60 slower than an M3, manual car with lemon Dakota leather interior and all the toys.

First mod was ordered nearly 3 weeks ago and arrived today. Replacement front grilles in black to bring some subtle stealth gravitas to the family focused party.

Next on the list are window tints to rear doors and screen. Possibly lighter tints to front two doors also. Then I'll be looking potentially at new wheels and non rft's on each corner. Possible eibach suspension too and I'd like a set of dark line rear lights to get rid of the whites.

Oh and I have a titanium Storm gearknob I may fit plus still need to name her too :)

Onwards and upwards!

Glad you're hanging around. At this rate the boss is going to have to start a non zed section for other BMW models as well as other marques :)

Nice write up inkey$ I know you miss your M dearly but there isn't too much wrong with a 335i in my eyes I've always lusted after one & yours is a lovely colour combo, look forward to your updates & mods. :)

Be interested to see what it looks like with black grills. My wife has a black 1 coupe and been wondering if black grills would look good on it since I put black grills on my Z

Love a 335!! I wouldnt be complaining really. More comfy than the Z, near as makes no difference as fast, has all the toys looks awesome goes like stink and you can take everyone and half the house with you! Awesome motor!

More modding potential too! Can get some epic performance boost with a remap... This could turn into one naughty 335 indeed! ;)

I loved my E90 just wanted more power. All the toys it had were dare I say it better, newer and easier to use. Just the insurance was half the price on the Z. The Ms engine is its strong suit and its looks... but lets not go back down that road

E90post isn't the place it used to be. I've been on their for about 4 years and still spend a lot of my forum time in the UK off topic section. Some genuinely interesting, funny and knowledgable individuals over there. A bit like here. However, venture into e90 related sections and it's all "bruv" and "innit" nowadays.

As an ex e90 owner and parent of 2 young children I'll watch this thread with interest.

PS. The H&R springs give better drop and ride quality on the e90.

Great you are sticking around a forum Institution ... Love the way those bonnet vents are marked R& L ... I'd like to see anyone fit them the wrong way round

Thanks for the feedback all.

Stuart - you may be right. The Lounge was the next best area and I dont think they take similar subject matters over on the [ex]karmatastic Z2 forum yet, so it was my only avenue

LeeZ4MR - kind words sir. You're welcome to try it out for size if we're ever at the same meet.

gallaghb - photos will be up on this thread sometime this weekend.

DrNick - I know you feel my pain really :o

MachineMonkey - that she does. Once it stops raining I'll be on cleaning duty for sure. Especially those rear pipes.

tomscott - thanks for not mentioning the M word too much. Looking into Jb4 remaps too.

Mowflow - Cheers bruv. Yes, met a few good peope on there but it's a little too NDubz in places and I'm 40 now right?! Some lovley cars on there though and good place to get direct advice or see mods in action. Will investigate the H&R option too

CornishRob - Only driven it 15 miles in 3 weeks so remains to be seen. Will update here though chief.

Carol - Thanks. Was thinking of naming her Carol :poke:

ZermattV - Yes I did wonder that. Fngers crossed I manage to fit them without breaking anything!

Make sure you do Bruv cus if you don't it will all rust in that ent it.

If those exhaust tips don't clean up. Send them my way I have a polishing mop that will help

Lovely car hope it fills some of the //M void. It dose seem somewhat of a Swiss army knife

Funnily enough the car is actually a lot cleaner than in these pictures as my local Stephen James washed and valeted her when I had the infamous scrape sprayed up. Still needs some Autosol attention though

How weird. I do a search for 335i's just to have a browse.

And this is in the forecourt in the pics....

Good move inkey$ I did similar getting my B3SBT (same lump as yours but 400hp) to replace my E90 D3BT and the Roadster S. Didn't want to see either go (and the RS hasn't, yet) but my inability to drive some manuals now plus wife's new high mileage job equated to me getting a MORE FUN ALPINA :) and the wife getting a new F21 to throw miles at. Miss my D3BT (better drive) and will miss the RS even more, but life changes and we move on :tumbleweed:
