Infamous plastic front bumper/wing clip

Hopefully you all know about the clip I am referring to? The one that holds the front bumper to the wing and has a tendency to break when removing the bumper.

Question......going by the picture below, and having never removed my front bumper, is it correct to say that where the yellow line is, is where the bumper pushes into? Is it just a case of pulling directly out?

If I am having trouble removing the bumper, is it just a case of not pulling hard enough?

thanks
Colin

If you are removing the first side you kind of have to lift and pull- it sits in that slot

I wasn't lifting, just pulling, could be the problem.....
If you get your hand in behind the wheelarch liner it means you can pull directly whereas if you try to pull from the bottom of the bumper you are twisting the whole thing upwards and it is more likely to break. You can kind of get your fingers behind the bumper and your thumbs against the outside of the wing and squeeze to pull the bumper out.

why do I feel that blood will be involved.......... :?

Hopefully someone hasn’t drilled your bumper into the front wing, with wood screws, like mine was!

That was a battle to get the bumper off, until I realised…

You need to pull the bumper back towards the back of the car and then out.
I’ve broken so many of these where they just become brittle over time.

The bumper has tabs sticking up to help "lock" it into that slot which stop it pulling straight out easily. I've found gently sliding a plastic spudger in has helped mine come out before. They're much easier to remove once the clip is broken
