I'm experiencing some issues with the shifter feel at the moment, the car is an '08 E86. In summary when shifting gears it feels inconsistent. Sometimes accurate, positive and "rifle bolt", sometimes sloppy and vague. It changes from shift to shift. I have had a few instances when I couldn't select 4th gear at all.
As all of the gearboxes the 1-2 change was notchy but it didn't feel sloppy. Now it just feels sloppy.
Any ideas? I was thinking along the lines of work linkage bushings, old gearbox oil and maybe work engine mounts preventing selecting gear. Help would be appreciated! The car is still coverer under BMW warranty so will probably suck up the excess and get them to fix it but I wanted to have an idea of what may be going on beforehand.
