Inaccurate "quotes"

I have noticed this a couple of times now, when people are clicking quote on something someone has said, the quotation is attributed to a different member, very confusing!

Few examples:

Quote should have identified JamieZ4C as the poster but instead added Flyingfifer

To be fair, I wasn't talking about you, but you're not doing yourself any favours repeatedly quoting figures that are wildly wrong and somehow quoting me as saying something when I didn't.

My understanding was though that its the wear of the plastic impeller blades that typically cause a failure not any electrical issues, I had the thermostat changed along with my water pump (as well as doing that while doing the pump)

Where did you get that understanding from if you don’t mind me asking? Every failed pump I have dissected has been failure of the internal electronics. The mechanics seem well designed.

As others have said, plenty of the oem Pierburg units around for £200 - £250. It’s an easy diy or an hour labour at a garage. Around 22% of users on here reported a failure in a survey of 100 or so responses.

The back top engine (N52K) typically found in 2007 models onwards apparently had a revised design but it’s not clear if the electronics were any different. They do still fail but perhaps not at the same rate.

Noticed it last week at some point and again yesterday.

I can be confused enough on my own without electronic help.

I tried to quote a line in the post above and then an answer to the OP but the quote lists the OP and not buzyg like I wanted

I think it just needs care when extracting quotes that are part of multiple quotes, that the correct text, brackets etc. is deleted/retained.

The forum wouldn’t cause that unfortunately

BBCode requires opening and closing tags, like HTML, and tags can be nested. The guide might help you, it's not very long:

Yes, I noticed I was quoting something the other day that was posted by another member and not myself

I never manually code a quote because I'm far too lazy and I suspect 99.9% of users are the same, I am using the "Reply with quote" button on the post I'm replying to and unless I'm manually altering and making the name incorrect it doesn't explain this error.

It's a PICNIC error.

I may be old and daft, but the quotes button works just fine.

As too wtf PEBCAK and PICNIC errors are. I will have to now spend much time googling the answers, unless some one can tell me quick. :?

Edit: now Googled those,

 as always, this forum continues to provide invaluable life skills

... & to confirm, just selecting part of the text & then the double inverted comma icon works perfectly

With my posts disappearing before being posted and now this I am wondering if this is a battery issue - these Z4's are well known for different faults appearing when the battery gets worn out

Here's a question for you. I know you'll colour it, but entertain me.
Two people stand next to each other - same age, weight, everything. Hell, just for the exercise, let's say the same person, just two of them.
One wears an approved PPE mask. One is vaccinated but wears no PPE whatsoever. I expose them to an aerosol from someone who has Covid and coughs in their direction from 2 metres away.
Who is most likely to catch the virus?

I’m not sure what you are getting at? And how does this address the risk point that was being made? We all know the vaccine does not prevent infection, it is shown to lessen the effects of the virus in many to the point it is not life threatening. So I don’t get the point of your question.

Another weird quote glitch here, it wasnt me that said that :idunno:

Indeed and most likely the same reason as previously mentioned. SPUTNIK.
