Ok ok, I know... I'm stupid for not noticing sooner!!!

I had some metal valve caps on my wheels, but I have not been using my car much recently and hadnt noticed they had rusted on... I cannot shift them for love nor money (tried with wrench and plyers). Is there any other method of getting them off other than getting the valves replaced?

Cheers,

J

Try some rust desolving oil instead. WD40 does not desolve rust. I got a bottle of oil from years back from Halfords which mentions that it losens seized bolts.

cool, top idea, I will pick up some tomorrow... thanks for the ideas guys

I win the idiot of 2008 award!

Big Warning going around on the Boxster forum!

A few have had this happen and ended up replacing the valves!

Good luck with the oil.

Cheers

seen it, been it and done it too on an old car........... :x
I used heat/gas on mine, whilst using a pair of pliers as a heat shrink to stop the rubber on the valve melting

More worrying is ... what are you doing on a Boxster forum??? :o
I used to frequent there as i had one too, a 2000 3.2S, a very nice car it was too but not an ///M :D

I dont have anything like a blowtorch to use for this... would heating it with a cigarette lighter work? I'd have thought it would be nice and accurate?

I dont thing a cigarette lighter will work, it will loose heat to quickly, gas torches are cheap in B&Q, wilco's , R Dyas etc

Just got some rest eatin spray... sprayed it on just now and gonna have a crack at it after work. Fingers crossed!
