I’m new and I’m researching

Tell her it’s a canny investment on a future classic. Just don’t mention the running, maintenance and ‘improvement’ expenditure.
I used that excuse on Crypto :fuelfire:

Well, I’ve posted my wanted ad so shall now wait with bated breath whilst looking at Autotrader and Facebook - which seems to be a popular alternative to Autotrader for used cars these days, oddly. Hopefully someone will bring forth something within budget.

Gumtree? Really? I’ve never used it but thought it was, to quote Star Wars “a hive of scum and villainy”?

Bought quite a few cars from Gumtree, including one a few weeks ago.

As [ref]enuff_zed[/ref], says they’re all as bad as each other so due diligence needed wherever purchased from. One advantage of Gumtree is they run a basic HPI check within the ad and if you want a full report then clicking through from the ad gives you it at half price

It’s where I bought my works van, old but good and well serviced

Well, Gumtree I’ll keep an eye on but nothing much on there right now. EBay has one, that was linked to by another member on my Wanted thread which looks good but I can’t look at the history as the private plate in the photos is registered to another car.

I’ve had two members make me aware of upcoming cars to sell but need to get some more info on them and how far away they are based.

But, we are making progress, my wife hasn’t utterly objected to this purchase, and I’m hopeful I’ll have my arse in a Zed soon.

Okay your wife's just had a third baby and you're thinking about a two seater sportscar, you know that only has two seats, so while you're off on a jolly in your new two seater sportscar, she's looking after three kids :poke:

You surely must have one huge set of cojones on you :D

If you're going to sell this one to her without getting divorced, maybe you can suggest it's a way for you two to spend quality time together while you've paid for the child care

Anyhoo good luck with that

It's on FM05 CSY
A few easy sorted advisories, but there's a bit of work involved in the top mount change, and I'd be tempted to do both at the same time.
Then of course, once you get in there you find it needs new shocks.................

Don't think this guy would drop his price. Claim its only an advisory and leave someone with a bill coming their way.

Thanks for your help Enuff_zed , really appreciate it. There is always an element of risk but I need to mitigate it as much as possible. A good deal is great but I don’t want to splash out too much cash on top of initial outlay. Looks good though doesn’t it.
