My sister bought a new freelander 4 years ago and I thought to myself , this will be interesting and 3 weeks in to her ownership it went in to some sort of meltdown and the dealer had to come and collect it , it was sorted without any hassle and has been fault free since

The 2nd day I had my Z4 E89 me and the wife had a day out and took it to the Welsh coast. On the way back, still in Wales the car went in to emergency limp mode!! I had to drive back on half power! Didn't instill confidence! It was in the dealer for the rest of the week to get fixed! I thought it was that high pressure fuel pump problem, and it was fine for around 12 months but then started failing to start correctly and occasionally went into limp mode again! Took it too the dealer and this time I had the fuel pump replaced! Not good really for a BMW! Had to have the boot tray replaced under warranty as it fell apart! And what about this 19" wheel cracking thing going on still!! :?

All cars have problems these days. Just the way it is!

Oh, add to those problems I had to have the passenger door handle replaced because the key-less entry stopped working.

The Z4's just tripped over 30K miles and the MOT is out at the end of this month. The dealer also said the rear tyres will need replacing soon (that would have been the second set I've had on it plus one set of fronts) and the insurance is up also (plus the new Z4 is being speced now) so the right time to trade. Insurance and road tax is cheaper also!

One of the main reasons for change though is that I've been running an old Y reg Diahatsu Terrios purely to get me around in winter (I can't get the Z4 off the drive when it snows! and also I got fed up with being frozen out of the car in the mornings, windows wouldn't drop down)!! so having the Evoque means I can now get rid of the Terrios. Although it's been a great little runabout, the clutch is on it's way out and I have already been told it wont pass the next MOT in June because of chassis rot (I've already had it welded up once!) and the rear brake lines need replacing. Running three cars for 2 people was always a bit crazy!

Nothing wrong with running many cars for 2 people

I am sure that "in the real world", your 15 seconds to 60 mph will feel the same as your 35i :poke:

8 second's to 60 actually! :P I am actually surprised how quick it overtakes cars!

The roads around by me are so bad now you need a 4x4 to negotiate them!

I'm so over the sports car thing now to be honest! I used to be anal about my cars, always kept them immaculate, but my Z4 rarely gets washed these days! When it does there is a hand washing service at one of the sports clubs I work at and I drop it off to them to clean while I'm teaching classes. To be fair, they do an awesome job for £10!!

Also I have better things to do with my money these days than spend it on insuring and taxing cars just to sit on the drive or in the garage! I think I'm slowly becoming a car user and not a car enthusiast! I love the comfort of the Evoque also (mind you the Z4 wasn't bad!).

Pulling your leg as usual of course :D

I know what you mean about the roads, I have never seen them in this state before and can only negotiate them reasonably in the X5 at the moment without breaking my back.

I am still in the middle of my midlife crisis, so sports car for me for some time to come 8)

Don't join the Landrover forum. It's nowhere near as nice and friendly as this one.

Typical that the road where I live they have just resurfaced....the same day I bought the Evoque!! :P

I still have the wife's MINI Cooper S to hoon around in mind!

I may be tempted back to sports cars once the Jag F series starts coming onto the second hand market but I think, for the moment, I'll leave BMW for a while. I just think, in some areas, they need to start to up their game compared to the opposition and the dealers need to stop acting like they are selling Ferrari's!

So far my Land Rover dealer experience has been quite good, but time will tell.

Captain Slow liked the Evoque! :P

This is basically the same spec as my Evoque except I don't have the panoramic roof and mine's the Coupe (with the nice bonnet vents!).

Pleased you went for the Coupe Breaker  it just looks such a nice resolved shape in coupe form & the rear doors spoil the overall look for me on that model.

Small detail, but it was also the bonnet scoops that did it for me on the Coupe as the 5 door doesn't have them! :P

No too many around by me, more RR Sports and Rang Rovers!! Actually more E89's!!

The dealer I bought the Evoke off had an 09 E89 23i M Sport for sale for £15,850!!

Very nice, I like them a lot. 5 door looks good too. Looking forward to the pics :D

Also, diesel and auto is a pretty decent combination so it would be good if you did another epic real world performance comparison
