Did you get anyones detasils, i.e for witness etc? I'd wait the next few days on that road and flag her down for her details, get the police involved if required. People like that will kill someone one day and need to be taken off the road or re-educated.
Jeez how bad are those wheels! At least you and the rest of the car are still in one piece, seems like the situation could have been a lot worse were it not for your quick thinking actions.
Wow, yeah I hate stupid idiots that don't pay attention.
The other day I was driving down interstate and saw this lady putting on makeup and talking on her cell phone. I'm like man look at this stupid bit-- then I hit the car in front of me.
j/k.
But yeah I hate when people aren't paying attention or doing the cellphone/makeup thing. People like that should be allowed to drive. Hopefully you can get some new rims quickly. I am glad our cars are so nimble. Helps get us out of jams that could of been accidents instead of near misses.
The skill level of some of the drivers on the road and their propensity to reduce it even further by allowable other activities is flat scary! Cell phones, makeup and snacks being the seemingly primary focus of people who are only marginally capable of driving a golf cart at 5mph make them lethal at highway speeds. Solutions? Hell, we all have ideas. But, my thoughts about revisiting the 60's via a Triumph Thruxton are done. I'm thinking more about a nice used Bradley AFV. If the driver does a hit a run, I can still make them pay out to 2000 meters.
Eyes on the road. Thats why the early z4's didnt have cup holders. Drivers on the Autobahn wouldnt dream of taking thier eye off the road to sip a latte or Big Gulp. I've seen women applying makeup, and men shaving with an electric shaver, but cell phones are the worst. 90% of drivers I see drifting out of lane or stacking traffic behind them are on the phone. Talking on the phone and talking to a person sitting next to you is not the same at all. When your on the phone your attention is on the phone with you.
Pulled the bumper cover off and fixed the headlight. Put all four of the original OEM wheels back on the car. Did another visual check.
Took the car for a small test drive. Feels fine. Does not feel abnormal at all. Steering tracks well.
It appears that the two wheels sacrificed themselves to save the car. I will find out more this week when the car gets a through inspection and alignment.
Multitasking at the wheel seems to be coming commonplace these days. Saw a van driver go by talking on his mobile holding it with his shoulder, and had a drink in another hand.
