Haven't driving the Zed since Friday. Started my drive to work this morning. Temps about 45' and should go up to about 60'. Going to be a top down drive on the way home.....
Or so I thought........
I get about a mile from the house, on a two lane road doing the speed limit, for once, about 45MPH. Come around a 90' semi-blind turn when I suddenly see this mini-van coming towards me IN MY LANE...
She, I said SHE.... was putting on her makeup and NOT looking.....at all.....
I have three options.
1. Flash my lights and sound the horn, hoping SHE comes to her senses and gets over. ( I did say SHE).
2. Go right, and try to avoid her. If SHE still does not see me, then its a head on....
3. Go left and avoid her since SHE obliviously owns the whole road.
Numbers one, two and three come to me in about 1/2 second...
Wait another second or two to see just what SHE is going to do....
Then decided that SHE was really not into this thing called driving and so I went left.. All this happened in about three or four seconds...
SHE passed me on the right side. Of COURSE there were other cars behind here. Thank God not terribly close.
When I tried to correct to get back on my side of the road, the entire car really did NOT want to do what I wanted and I slide into and then up on the concrete curb. It's cold out and the tires are not warm at all. I could have saved the day if it was about 85' out or so....but alas,,,, no dice....
So now I am stopped, and sitting at a slight angle. The other cars also stopped and most of them just pointed at the receding mini-van and just shook their heads..
Got out to look for any damage. I figured I had curbed the wheels pretty good. What do you all think????
Since I was so close to the house, just drove it home at about 5mph... parked it and just got in my truck and went to work.... :dizzy:
figure I will really see what the damage is when I get home. Nothing to do about it now anyways....
Now that I am home from work, and have the wheels off, I cannot see any other damage. The camber pins on the top of the strut mounts are still in place and the top of the strut towers look good. Even the upper rubber strut mounts are not cracked or torn. The strut brace had come a tad loose on the drivers side.
I kinda figure that the strut brace kept the entire front end from flexing too much. All of the lower end suspension components look good.
I will really not know if anything is bent until the two new wheels/tires come in and the car gets another alignment..
I may just replace all four tires at this time...??
Of course I CAN just put the original wheels and RFT's back on to get the car to the shop for the alignment. I may just do that... not sure yet.
I am not really mad. Just bewildered. I can FIX the car. SHE may KILL some one....and that's a little more permanent....
