coupe obviously - its faster
not true.. MR is faster than MC as it's lighter. *actually* :P

not that you'd ever notice

im not sure i could ever not own a roadster now, had one for about 7 years and id miss it too much.

Had the Z3 2.8 roadster, had the Z4 2.5 roadster.

Don't regret the Z4MC one bit, never considered the Z4MR before and don't want one now!

I had my hardtop fitted all the time on my last Z, and I prefer the look's of my E89 with the top up and have only lowered it about 3 times since early April.

Coupe every time

Coupe without question. I've had this for three years now, the longest I have ever owned a car and I still think it just looks the business....toying with a replacement but still love it, and as dealers will offer about forty quid for it, it's a difficult choice to make

...and,..I always think it must be such a shame for Coupe owners to have never really heard the sound of their engine when driving.

oh we can hear it alright. ask any M Coupe owner.....the stereo is redundant...

I love this idea the Coupe is somehow like the vaccuum of space - no sound enters or exits, it's 100% sealed

It's louder than my M3 was that's for sure, and has a better exhaust note too

I'd stick with the roadster... Have a hardtop on mine at the moment - best of both worlds.

I miss the exhaust burbling with tbe hardtop on though....too quiet.

Not noticed that at all. But then again, 99% of driving I do is top down.

Not really no, I did some serious miles in France with the top down (working on my tan and moving - try that coupe owners) and didn't detect any real drop in the consumption figures. To be honest I wasn't exactly on economy saving mode but then that's not really an M car's strength either. Wind/road noise gets to you once you're on the autoroute doing some serious pace for any length of time so that's the biggest consideration...quite a good way of keeping your speed at least marginally sensible

Does the fuel figure drop drastically when the top is dropped for you guys in the MRs?

Might do a bit at high speed, on motorway. But that's not typically the type of driving I would do with the top down.

Nice try though. 8)

Nobody said you couldn't hear the engine at all. The thread is comparing the Coupe to the Roadster. In which of these can the full sound of the engine be heard best ?

Coupe without question, its looks like a double hard driving machine and the roadsters looks gay as george michael. :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke:

Simples ! :D

Also i've had 3 roadsters already and have gone off them generally for some reason???

I'd have 3604/430 sypder and thats about it

:D

this is the true reason people have ragtops, they smell like bloody sardines, you could just try a bit of after shave :poke:

but it always ends up in one...

the ragtop owners are out there enjoying them, the cabin-fever coupé owners are stuck inside trying to fight a losing battle :tumbleweed:
:poke:

 <-- me driving along, getting a tan

I've nearly always owned a roadster, started with an MGB and now have a Z4. Reading the thread Kryton sums up the coupe owner's perspective, he's only lowered the roof three times on his E89 and when he had the rag top he tended to keep the hard top on it. He's not a roadster person, nothing wrong with that, he just prefers to have a roof over his head when driving :)

However, if you really can't decide then buy the roadster, it's fine with the roof up and it is the ultimate Z4 when the top's down and the sun's shining. :driving:

Besides, why drive around in a Zardine can :fuelfire:
