IF I sell my Z4, I will buy...

I do love the electric green - but I wouldn't be that cruel to an ///M. You can keep the coupe - not only is that a horrible green, it's pertty fugly...

As for the girls, Mrs Bing doesn't like red cars, so I may need an upgrade :P

Darren - :P

After recent Z4M roadster consideration, I'm currently looking at:-

- BMW 630/645 Convertible (2004/05)
- BMW 330 Convertible (2007/08)

The 6 series comes with more kit and exclusivity, but the 3 series is a newer car with folding hard top.

This is the problem, people who own the ///Ms are already in a niche market so replacing it with something is hard and usually will break the wallet, the longer you keep them the rarer and better they get IMO. This is why upgrading to an ///M makes sense because its a big upgrade with minimal investment.

It is and will continue to be a great all rounder, unique, will keep up with cars much higher up the line and fairly cheap to look after compared to them. Fairly cheap to run apart from the tax you can live with 23-30mpg. Most importantly they are bullet proof mechanically apart from usual wear and tear! There has been barely any complaints about the M mechanically apart from the hesitation which can be sorted fairly easily, luckily mine hasnt had any issues. Many E46 M3s are hitting 160k and still running like clockwork.

But im in the space where I need to buy a house too, but im not compromising by selling it. The prospect of getting <£14k for it just doesn't make sense to me. So im going to keep it until it hits maybe 70K which with the amount of milage I do will be in 3-4 years time. So its going into europe going to as many Z meets as possible and will continue to look pristine as I really enjoy looking after it... to the point of absolute crazyness, mine has 53k on it and doesn't have one mark on it.

In 3-4 years hopefully I will be in a better position to buy something more exotic, hopefully dad might sell me his 911 for a bit cheaper ;)!

If i sell mine, it'll be for a sensible diesel :(

Woody's got the best suggestion here, sell the ///M and buy a house.

I get the feeling my current car will be the last of my fun cars. I've always seen cars as money down the drain, which in the last 10 years has been fine, but now im shaping up to move to a bigger house and settle down its not justifiable at all.

For all those thinking of upgrading your Z4's to Z4M's: Suprisingly the biggest thing I found was aesthetic. I love the bonnet ridges, the interlagos blue and the 4 exhaust pipes etc etc. The performance doesnt really factor as much as i thought it would. I guess it comes down to the amount you can hoon on britains roads now:( And before anyone suspects im not much of a driver, ive owned performance cars since i was 24 and done countless track days. I love giving a car a good ragging :driving: :D

I did want to scratch the ///M itch, but in reality for 90% of the time a 3.0si is the better buy. Lets wait for someone to counter this talking about the other 10% of the time! Be happy with yourr 3.0's people, they're great!

Edit: God, im of on one again, wishing i didnt have to worry about finances and early mid life crisis's!

Just depends where you are in life eh!

Minus the boot wing. The first roadster wouldn't be bad. I also don't mind the electric green.

Holy crap! The second green roadster is an abomination. Pelican case clamps to hold the bumper to the wing. With the camber he has he MIGHT have the same tire/tarmac contact patch as a bicycle. And a wiper that can't park properly. Yikes! The one thing missing is a private plate that says "chavolicious"

The third one. It works "as a race car" But based on the plate shape. I'd say it's an American car (could be wrong) and the owner hasn't been anywhere near the ring. And ordered the "ring" sticker off the rings web site. Again. I could be wrong.

The two lovely ladies. Well I think they are going to get a ticket for parking in a handicap spot and not wearing their seat belts. :)

Well I did change it for another one, too early to talk about replOOH SHINY!!!

in all seriousness, an M3 would be lovely but the next car will be a replacement DD. Probably a BMW 3 or 5 touring.

If I can possibly afford it the next toy will have a prancing horse on it. That or wings (even more ruinously expensive)

Having just swapped, I can't really answer, but I would like to own the current boxster sometime in the future

Replaced with some family style realism but a twist of laryness...
- 335i
- S6
or luxury...
- 7 series
- S Class
or one from my car bucket list...
- 240z
- AE86
- Brera S Prodrive
- Z3MC
- Type 2 campervan
or cheaper impracticality...
- Z roadster (big 3 or 4)

Good question, I went for the expensive daily drive and a more modest 53 plate E85 as a weekend fun car... in the few months I have had the Z. I have re-evaluated and an now considering a cheaper DD for transporting dogs shopping etc.. and have started looking at E89. 35i's I have loved every min of my Z ownership, both the car and this forum for its advice, humour, and the vast amount of information on tap.

Something that is completely different so that it cant really be compared and therefore wouldnt miss it as much

I'm probably one of few on here to say I'm genuinely happy with the 3.0si. Whilst I think the M is a great car (and some of those colours are really stunning)... it just doesn't appeal to me to have one, I'd just rather spend the extra money on other things.

As i mentioned before I quite like the E89 so I think I'd consider going that route, but if not it's quite possible I'll look at a 3,5 or 6 series with an economical engine next.

An e92 M3
Maserati Gransport
TVR Sagaris
Lotus Exige S (the new one...in blue with teracotta leather)

V8 6 series from 07 onwards ( had a 2005 & it burnt a hole in my wallet so we parted company :( ) or gen2 997 if i was going up the ladder , Unfortunately the Zed M's hold no allure as they are all manual so i don,t see those as a step up
if i had to sell & go down the ladder then E46 M3 / Porsche 968 or 3.2 TT quattro , , it would depend how much cash i needed to free up

Yep . the 1st boxster i have liked . Looked at buying the 3 other models previously but they have no redeeming features for me so never bothered
