IF I sell my Z4, I will buy...

IF I sell my Z4, I will buy another one probably... But the real question is, what would you trade it in for? I have seen a lot of M's for sale in the UK lately, posted on this forum. Many of you would consider trading in their Zed for the M-version.

But quite honestly, looking at prices of the E89, they are sometimes quite similar. OK, the engine is a big difference, but you would still be having a more modern car... So I would probably be more tempted to trade in my old Zed for a newer model.

What about you?

I suppose it depends what your after. The newer model is a completely different take on the Z4. Aimed more at the american market and is more of a cruiser GT than a sports car.

If I sold my Z4 M it would be an E92 M3, M6 or if I could stretch to it 997 C4S preferably a gen2 or a C4GTS

Or a GT3 if I could find one but not likely maybe later on.

Personally I prefer the looks of the M over the E89. I've never driven an E89 so can't comment on it's prowess, but I think the M is still one of the best looking (realistically attainable) cars on the road regardless of its age. I'd take a good example of an M over the E89.

At present I can only see me trading mine in for another zed - an e89, albeit I'd probably switch to a smaller engine.

Quite impressed with both the 23i and the 20i models so I guess it'd just depend on what's about and prices etc by that point. Certainly won't be doing it til next year at the earliest, still very happy after 6months of coupe ownership!

No!

While I think the E89 is a nice looking car. I liken it to a problem faced by most folk. Middle age spread.

I've also never been a fan of folding tin tops. To me. One of the appeals of a roadster. Is taking a nice weekend get away with my sweety. In the E85 you can actually pack a fair amount of female maintenance equipment and clothes for both of you AND open the hood.

A house!

I think my M will be the pinnacle of my car ownership, at least in this section of my life anyway. It was a circa £45k car new which can be had for mid teens now, which is great value but still a lot of dosh!

An amazing car which I don't think I will better, I'm keeping as long as possible until I get a bigger house and need deposit money top up :) Then she will be sold

If I were to sell my ///M it would be for another, maybe, just maybe an ///MC

You know it makes sense Darren :poke: :) Come join us on the dark side...:D

I must admit there are days in the summer (4 or 5 maybe) where I do miss the open top motoring, but on balance the Coup wins it for me!

It's the 4 or 5 days though Woody, when all the stars align, it's just perfect!

The dark side does have it's attraction though, but not for swmbo or my kids :D

I,ve been considering this lately ..... my E 85 is only a 2.5 but its been fine performance/cost wise..I did 14,000 miles in it so far, reliable except for a coolant cap , bottom rad hose and wiper relay, has used no oil between services and returns 34 ish MPG dropping to 28 MPG in the cold weather.
Shes 10 years old this June and clocked up 104,000 miles and still runs like a Swiss watch........... now do I replace it with a newer/low mileage example and risk roof motor and or power steering failure? Or even something worse going wrong? :?

Theres nothing out there right now that I would trade it for..

However these are the closest contenders

An absolutely mint E24 Highline
An absolutely mint E38 Sport
Ferrari 308GTBi
Lamborghini Jalpa / Countach
Lotus Esprit S2HC
Mercedes SLS or SLR
Noble M15
Porsche 968 Coupe

I plan to swap my Z4MC for:-

1. 997 GT3 which ideally I would keep for ever or at least until i can afford to swap it for a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale.
2. If I can't quite stretch to a GT3 then I've also been tempted by the new Exige S, Maserati Granturismo 4.7s or a Porsche Cayman R.
3. Something bonkers like a Radical or Ariel Atom.

Other than that I don't think there is anything out there I am interested in to be honest.

MC ... As soon as I'm in the position to run 2 decent cars so it can be a garage queen !
