When i had my roadster the Aux plug fitted next to the CD changer plug,but since getting the coupe which has Bluetooth prep the socket where the aux lead would go was taken i'm assuming by the Bluetooth.I looked at the Aux lead plug which has three wires and looked at the connector that is in the back of the H/unit and it had only two wires, so i just removed the wires from the Aux connector block and placed them in the corresponding holes in the connector block at the back of the H/unit and it works no problems :thumbsup:

ummm well I have factory fit B/T, Aux and cd Changer and all function on Business H/U car is 07 if that makes a difference
 
£70! this looks very dear for what it is I picked up a Belken transmitter thingy for about £14.00 from halfords. BTW the sound quality is the same as you get from a FM radio station
 
I have the cd changer and Bluetooth prep but not complete Bluetooth, dunno if that makes a difference.

I had to pull the small white plug out of the head unit and put the aux plug in it's place, I bought an extra cable to join the cd changer cable into the aux cable, so both work. (I have a parrot system connected to the aux in plug, not the BMW aux cable)

I think the way redzedfour did it sounds like the best option tho, get the aux plug, pull the pins out and transfer them into the existing plug in the head unit 8)

My coupe was a Aug 06 build so didn't get the Aux as standard,but the way i've done it is probaly the way it would have been done if it was a factory fit but i could be wrong :thumbsup:
 
Did my aux at the weekend - soldered my own following the guide on here.

Used computer connector pins as per the guide - but different to the guide, took the black outer plastic bit off them as the metal inners looked a close match to the pins for the plug (it was already occupied, by the ipod interface i think), and sure enough, they fitted (you have to dismantle the plug - clips out of the harness, and then a thing slides off the side of it, which is what holds the pins in). Works a treat.
 
I've just had a quote from Dick Lovett for the instalation of the OEM IPod connector - £344!! I'm really keen to have something as close to this as possible, having had this usb interface on my E61 but not paying that much.

Any suggestions please? I'm totally inept when it come to fitting stuff, so will need supply & fit

i'd go for something other than the bmw cable myself - mine came with one, and whilst i'm leaving it there, its a bit limited by its need to create specially named playlists - i generally unplug ipod, choose music, then plug it back in.

I have aux as well now - so use spotify on my phone a lot too.

If you want the lead though, try ebay. Not 100% its the right part, but fairly sure:

Install really isn't that hard - you aren't a million miles from me, if you get really stuck... although not sure i could bring myself to do anything to a coupe :fuelfire:

Reggie check out the link in my signature, I chose the parrot because it gives iPod, aux and USB input and charging. I only use the USB personally, my e90 has USB and it's so much better then ipod :fuelfire: .

As an added bonus it Also gives u bluetooth, which is perfect if your car didn't get it standard.

I installed it myself in about 45mins, so shouldn't cost a lot if you need to get it fitted!

In terms of the sound quality, is the Parrot as good as the OEM Ipod connector or aux in?

In terms of bluetooth for the mobile is the Parrot better than the built in bluetooth? I spent this afternoon driving down the M4 at 50MPH as the background noise on the integrated bluetooth mean't nobody could hear me!

Quick search... £189 fitted at Halfords or £239 at Western car Radio fitted, Uplands £169, not sure of fitting.

The parrot Bluetooth is great, I put the mic on my steering wheel, so i'm basically talking into it, and sound comes out through the speakers, use it often at 60mph+ with no issues. I have an iphone 3GS and the connection is great, the parrot has music streaming so i can stream music from my phone via blue tooth to the car and easily navigate my contacts/playlists.

Sound quality, I cant compare to the aux in as I've never seen one, But the quality is much better then the Cd stacker or CD player in the head unit. I really rate it.

I listen to mostly electro/ Aussie Hiphop, so lots of bass n stuff, and I prefer the car to my Yamaha surround sound system! (I have the DSP 10 speaker system in my car)
 
I was going to opt for the DICE system as I wasn't fortunate enough to have the AUX in nor do I have Bluetooth prep....this Parrot Kit may have just swayed me, seems to do the lot!!

My only concern would be the dash mounting and the non OEM look that the other systems provide.....
 
Think I'm gonner do get the Parrot next week. Found a place in Bedminster £240 fitted, with all the revised brackets.

Hotride, just taken a look at your pics again - do you find the location to the right of the sat nav screen the best available? Did you use the supplied bracket and screw into the dash or go through the gap between the dash/fascia? I'm a little worried about damaging my piano black fascia.

My screen came with a bracket that had 3m double sided tape on the back, so it's stuck on. I didn't drill a single hole or cut a single wire in my car, I wouldn't be keen on it then.

I kinda like the screen where it is as I threaded the cable along the gap between the dash and the speedometer unit, and it's basically invisible. And I think it looks alright beside the sat nav screen personally, although others may not like it. I also think having the screen on the other side of the Steering wheel near the a pillar would look good.

But if the screen is an issue, there is another model called the parrot mki9000 that doesn't have a screen but still has the same functions and would look oem
 
So does the Parrot mki9000 have all the same features and connectivity potential as the mki9200....the only difference is that it doesn't come with a screen?

If so it maybe the one....
 
sticky pad sounds ideal. I was a bit worried my fascia panel may get scratched.

thninking above the light switch on the side near the pillar may be good.

Magic Greg, yes that's correct exactly the same unit, just no screen. I have also read you can buy an additional harness from parrot that allows you to use the mfsw to control the parrot so car will remain 100% eom

if i was to install a parrot, it woud have to be the 1 with a screen, standard bmw does not show track info, the MKi9200 is very good, had 1 installed in a friends car

the only thing i don't like is the remote control, so get the extra cable to use MFSW (think they do 1 for the z4)
 
Got mine booked in for next week to have the 9200 fitted. Also going to price up adding the door speakers and rear subs as the standard 6-speaker system isn't hitting the spot.
