I miss my hometown Liverpool sometimes. Only sometimes though ;)

 Mostly Holland. Sometimes UK.
I suppose this is why some folks elect to 'not do the bus'.

In years to come, people will look back on this as a typical Liverpool scene, where in years gone by people fondly remember the nostalgic scenes of the lamplighters in the streets going about their business trailing the distinctive smell of parrafin oil, delivered by horse-drawn cart disappearing down a wet cobble street and the warm, welcoming, yellow light of the shop windows glistening on the cobbles while a friendly match-seller plies her trade on the bottom step of the 'dockers umbrella' overhead railway while singing dockers merrily make their way home to a warm meal and a glass of stout.
What happened to people? Or am i being overly, nostalgically idealistic? Lol

I've never been to Liverpool but this is how I imagined it would be

To be fair Chris a horse and cart would be much less hassle than your car :poke:

Haha no, well, ive had a glass of merlot.
Was looking for videos of the bluecoat chambers and that vid came up in the feed.
Totally cringeworthy and sadly, not that uncommon an occurrence these days.
I suppose i'm spoiled living in Holland atm. Everyones pretty much chillaxed here.

Hate to say this & its not intended to offend any scousers in the house but ive worked in central Liverpool a good number of times around Tuebrook , Anfield , Everton , Norris Green etc :( there's isnt a single redeeming feature that would ever draw me back to the area . It felt lawless in the day so can't imagine what the nights are like
Ive also worked on similar social housing projects in the inner cities of Manchester , Bradford & Leeds that were bleak & deprived but the sheer contempt for law & order was overwhelming in Liverpool

Do they all talk like her up there? :o

Does she come with sub titles?

Over here it's down to a lack of discipline ,starting in schools, poor parenting ,some who don't belong in a civilised
society .Their kids see it as the norm,so it's not going to get any better in the short term.

No offence taken at all and i'm sure many Liverpudlians like myself would recognise those areas you mentioned as being somewhat undesirable no-go areas. There are parts of Kensington, Liverpool where even the cops don't dare tread-that goes back to the riots of the early 80's.
Fortunately my house is in the North in Crosby but everytime I'm back over to visit family and friends i see things that make me think standards are on the decline in general.
Eg, i was in the local siansburys to buy some flowers for mum last time i was there and was gobsmacked when i saw this scruffy trollop in her pyjamas, slippers and rollers just wallowing around with a trolley full of pizza and booze. You could see others passing comment but she obv didnt give 2 hoots.
There also seemed to be a proliferation of bars in the city centre with drunks stumbling out and lolloping around in front of shoppers and kids.
Changing times. Sad to see.

The foul mouthed pig doesn't look like she's done too badly anyway Chris, you got off light my friend... :D

I quite like Liverpool (as a visitor)! Much more friendly than down here in the South-East.

Having married a Scouser (from Speke) my Scouse detector requires potential suspects to say "shirt", "skirt", "book" or "cook"!

There may be areas to avoid, but you wouldn't join a queue to live in Brixton or Tottenham either! You just need to work out which parts are OK.

As a born and bred Liverpudlian, I unfortunately have to agree, which is why I choose to move and bring my kids up as "wools"
