Cheers guys. If I cant get the bolt off tonight but using a longer lever and a wd40 soak, I'll try and source something to heat the bolt in order to remove it. :)

Heat is very useful, but way more than a hot air gun will offer on there. I took a Jeep steering arm off this morning and with 2 of us on a 3' bar it would not move. 2 minute with a the oxy cutter warming up to near cherry and it just unscrewed

Everyone has therir own techniques but I would suggest using either a 6 sided ring spanner (they don't burr corners) and a bit of hitting, or preferably a 2' long bar on a decent socket. If the bar is knuckled and not a T bar you can ensure the force is aligned with the head of the bolt and not round the top off the bolt.

Not sure I would want to warm up the brakes to cherry red......! Transfer of heat to the seals etc etc. Start of gently and work up (that's what Mrs J says and she's always right). :)

Alan I did not and would not for one minute propose such levels of heat on a brake carrier, nor on a critical bolt. That was an illustration of the levels of heat need to make such things really work.

My suggestions were below, with my preference being a long handled bar, which I've used on exactly these bolts that really are sods to crack undone.
Whenever I lend it to anyone it's accompanied by 'try this and if the bolt won't shift put a blouse on and call yourself a girl'. Amazing how much strength people suddenly find

iv sometimes used a hammer and a large punch before on bolts at work, im not sure how these bolts would take it but the sudden shock from a strike is usually enough to loosen them up and be able to undo with a breaker bar. You could if your really struggling use a large bar (not a ratchet) and hit the bar above the bolt so the force transmits through to the bolt while applying a levering motion on the bar, maybe slighty rough but has worked for me in the past :D

I had this problem earlier in the year when I changed my discs. You'll be supprised at the difference that wd40 makes. I recommend spraying it liberally onto the joints every ten minutes for at least 30mins. Wrap the bolt I. A saturated cloth too. After that you may even get the bolt off without a need for an extension bar or anything of that sort!

I done it! I done it!! :D

 Thanks guys!

I soaked it in wd40, kept lubricating every 10 mins and then managed to get the top one off with a an extended arm wrench. Was close to sheering the edges of the bolt, but luckily it budged. After wiggling the carrier, the bottom one eased.

Only 3 more wheels to go!!!

Used "Shock and Unlock" from Halfords to free mines last year, no need for an extension but did use penetrating oil in combination. It super cools whatever you spray it with, used on the bolt head for 30 secs and it released with 'minimal' effort.

Bit late I know but usefull stuff none the less!

Thank god for that, I'm sure many of us on here had a sleepless night last night worried about your situation :) :)
