Hydraulic motor mounting

Well, I am now at the stage of refitting my new motor to the hood. I had to crimp some spade connectors as the new motor has wider terminals at the bottom. Tested all OK. Tested again once sealed up - nothing. One of the new spade connectors had come loose. Re-opened and gave it a squeeze. Refitted and tested. All OK.

Question for those of you who have done this. Shoould the black sound insulation case be mounted tightly to the roof post or should it be able to slide up and down.

My mount was bust when I took the roof off so I didn't see it, but the screw tip seems to butt against the post so can never be tight.

I think it should be allowed to move, that's the reason for the elongated hole, I did initially tighten it up and put ty raps as well to keep it all secure but when i tested it it wasn't right . so took the ty raps off. all good then :)

Thanks. Yes - it feels like you should tighten it, but the design doesn't suggest it. Not that it looks all that sturdy though so it will probably fall off.

Zap straps ( plastic tie wraps) I believe are used to secure it. The hydraulic motor repair kit has them in it and my motor which was repaired has them on the exterior.

Same here. I let mine move too and works a treat! I was worried about it rattling against something but not heard a peep

Cheers guys. I have gone for letting it move - my main worry is that it will come off that mounting and block up the hole.

Haven't refitted the hood yet, but it has been placed in position.
