Jeez, some pricey insurance quotes in here. I was paying £360 for my MR at 23. Renewal is due in October so will be interesting to see what it comes in at.

How the hell did you manage that, are you a nun?

For some reason or another, I have always had very reasonable insurance quotes - apart from an M3. Cheapest quote I got for that was £890.

I work offshore and my mileage is set at 6k per annum. I have 3 years no claims and 1 "at fault" claim against me. I am expecting an increase in premium this year as it seems that all prices are going up. It's heartbreaking that My road tax costs more than my insurance!

All prices going up? Both mine even when quoting on their own went down by at least £70 each.

Wonder if you off hore job makes you a low risk as there are big periods of time where you cant use the car.

I based that just from reading on PH. A lot of people on there have said their premiums increased. I hope when mine comes through that it is lower. It could very well be that, I have no idea really. I keep my parents on my policy as named drivers and this helps reduce the costs.

My insurance is up in October, cheapest I have found is £189.92. Thats a drop of over £50. Im 37 yo with 9 years ncd though. Getting old has its bonuses. I remember paying a grand on a Volvo 440 turbo back in 1999.

That's good I've just been quoted £198 and I'm 49 with 9 yrs NCD. My current insurer wants £270 to renew. I paid over a grand in 1994 to insure an XR3i. How things have changed.

MR - £260 on 8,000 limited mileage policy. First year so not up as such but down on a Clio 197 before it :o

Both my ///M and the wifes Astra are due for insurance end Sept early October.

Last year I paid £370 for the ///M and £270 for the Astra

This year I am paying £301 for the ///M and £188 for the Astra saving just over £150

For once it's actually a multicar policy with Admiral. I'm not a fan of these but as there is only 8 days difference between the renewal dates it's not an issue.

Also means I can fit my strut brace soon :D

Perhaps hitting 40 this year has had something to do with it?

You and me both then Steve, I knew there must be something good attached to turning 40 :)

I paid £700 last year, first quotes for this year are £325! Unbelievable :o

What do you guys tick on the options list?
No claims protection, legal cover, courtesy car, personal accident etc. Not sure I ever get this right year on year

Should add these quotes are for 6,000 miles & 10yrs no claims

I'm hoping mine will be nice and cheap then, I doubt it somehow because people keep crashing/had a van stolen down my road which will probably make it more expensive :(

Mine is up at the end of the month. Current insurer want £360 up from £220 last year.

Mods declared and do 16k miles a year and had 6 points from two offences to add this year. Got it down to £195.

I paid almost a grand to insure a 205gti back in 1995. Same car now costs me £150 on a classic policy. It's odd that the pug is worth £2k where as the BMW is worth about £25k and only costs £45 more to insure.

mine went up by £250 this year with admiral. shopped around and finally got it down to £600 for the year which only £50 more than last year so i was happy with that

exactly,, i was with admiral for the last four years but they obviously didnt want to price match this time around so i moved on, no bother to me.... its not as if i am going to make a claim

How's this for pish!!! £171 a year for the Z4 (great!!!) transferred the policy to the new SLK £40 extra inc admin fee.
BUT as the Z isn't going back for a few weeks I had to insure it for 1 month. Guess how much?

£141, yep £141 for a fecking month!!!!! :headbang:
