FYI the advanced driving courses are free - I did mine with RoSPA (roya societ for prevention of accidents) - here is their motoring division:

Its free - the only cost is your petol, and that of your tutors time - the only cost for me was the case of wine for my tutor when I passed! I have also just had an insurance email from them from a company that will beat my renewal quote by 20% (August for me) because of the qualifcation.
As far as performance goes - I drive faster, have more fun and i'm alot safer.
Did I mention it was free...? 8)

It's worthwhile and I think it made me a better drive, but it's never really made any difference to my insurance. I believe RoSPA does make a difference, but I've not done that one![]()
