How-To - e89 Cruise Control Retro-fit

To have the LED's on the speedo you need a replacement cluster, and that's a whole new ballgame entirely to encode the eprom within the cluster.

i followed the excellent instructions and all works fine! the only thing that doesn't work is that the factory speedo has a green light over the speed set by the cruise control. maybe i coded something wrong. anyway i love my new cruise control! :D
..............
according to the dealer the green light won't show unless you install the instrument cluster with the green light.

As per the reply I'd already given you

Dave,

going through forums and youtube planning what to upgrade and retrofit on my Z4 2009 I've seen somewhere you had kits ready for this cruise control retrofit, is that still the case?

I tried to find a contact info to PM you directly but w/o success (still cannot PM on these forums)

Thanks!

Hi,

I’ve just joined. I have an Arctic White/Red leather 2010 E89 3.0 M-Sport which I have had for 5 years now.
I would love to have cruise control fitted but it worries me a lot about getting a quality item.
I would get my garage to fit it. Which is the best to get? I have Auto Wipers which I think makes a difference.
How long would it take a professional to fit and do they come with very clear instructions?
I can see that there is a lot on here but I’m even more confused! So apologies!!

Its relatively straightforward but i would not expect your average garage to know what to do. Especially around coding... yes you need the right replacement part for your stalks. Check out realoem for the right one then use ebay to find a second hand one.. then just follow the guide !

As above, your average garage won't have a clue, a dealer just won't entertain it full stop, so you have three choices, find a specialist BMW garage, do the job yourself or come and see me and I'll sort it for you
I can offer supply, fit and coding for £130 (£180 if you have a heated steering wheel). I use genuine used parts that are fully cleaned prior to fitting and are coded in using BMW software. I also have a 100% success rate.
Please be aware though this is all original except that I don't change the speedo cluster, so you don't have the LED's around the speedo showing the cruise set point. I can have this done though but it would be another £200 on top part availability depending. Saying that all of the c.400 retrofits I've already done haven't had the speedo cluster changed and it doesn't affect it at all.

Hope that helps

Hello, are you still doing z4 e89 cruise control retrofits? You did one for me about 3 yrs ago which i was very pleased with. Now looking to get another z4 which will probably need cruise fitted again.

I'd also be fairly keen on getting a quick cruise control retrofit done mr Anubis ! I have none of the parts ready to go but sounds like you both supply and fit? :)

I'm currently working on a upload folder containing the BMW Tools package and other stuff. But it needs to be in a file size I can upload to my Box account.
When you say

Do you mean how to sort the Profile Files?
If so, then I've already downloaded that, so I'll see if I can upload it to get you sorted. Can't do it at the moment though as it's on my home PC and I'm not!

Is there a member or specialist in the Gloucester/Bristol area to fit cruise control. I have the stalks and the lower cover but gave no ability to code it. I coujd probably fit it (I fitted replacement paddles) but not code. And Grantham is the other end of the country…. Thank you

I'm not aware of any other owner offering this.
Whereas I appreciate the distance, I have had owners from as far as Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium. I've also helped people out where apparent BMW specialists can't sort it!

I recently made the 5 hour drive down form Scotland to have this coded by Dave. Can't recommend him enough. Sound like you're a couple of hours closer than I was.

Dear Dave,

Thank you for you help after this long time since your first post !

Already installed mr12volt thanks to you !

Thank you, this would be much appreciated.

Seems that my inpa is not the right one because I have to e89 on it (but some F-series 🤔), it's the one from bimmerscene.

Maybe you still have the one you used ?

About Dropbox you can zip and encrypt into one file if you want to avoid problem I think

Aside of that, I would like to reduce the sensitivity of my light sensor in the meantime, do you know which variable we have to change ?

Also, I have bmw 30i from 2009, with iDrive unit. Changed the speaker, and noticed that the integrated amp seems good enought but on some forum you told that non-iDrive amp are crap, but changed after with Bluetooth to be good enough.
Do you have feedback about iDrive Unit integrated amp ?
I am wondering if I really need to change it and what could be the impact of sound.
Sorry to mess yo different topic here but cannot find the other one
