Find myself a "victim" today of the new system :x a scheme i would have expected Tony & his pal's to have cooked up
Vehicle was taxed until 1st Mar / buyer drove away today on 5th Dec , he pays DVLA for Dec , i lose Dec :? it was already taxed & paid for :headbang:

Anyhow has anyone got a clue just how i get the remaining months of Jan & Feb back ? Google search reveals nothing & my pal in the trade is horizontal on a sunlounger in Egypt so he's no use

Just tell the DVLA that you have sold the car in the normal way by sending the V5. Refund is automatically issued then.

I thought it was changed to an automated service from them recieving your v5 sale slip to refunding any remaining complete months.

Write 30th November on date of sale.

Don't think that will work. They will probably go on the franking mark on the stamp. That's the way it's has always been controlled.

I hate the government's obsessive clinging-on to using cheques. HMRC do it as well, even if you ask (when prompted on three separate occasions...) for your money to be paid electronically. kust seems to be a way of hanging onto your money for longer and maximising any interest they're making on it

Though it's a bit of a false economy as cheques cost quite a lot to process...

Weird, my better half completed her tax return on line a couple of weeks ago and completed bank details, refund was paid electronically within a couple of days. Always worked that way for me too in the good old days when I got a refund (now they wait until 31st Jan for me to pay my bill).

I ticked the box three times, and still got a cheque. I was happily waiting for my payment after completing it, but a couple of weeks later I'd heard nothing, went online and discovered that I had to request that they sent me my money... They hadn't communicated with me once to let me know. It was a lot - about £4k - but that shouldn't have made a difference. Idiots :x

At least it wasn't the zed you sold

No mate , then i would be inconsolable :( wife wants a Beetle which would mean i could step into Zm territory but i genuinely don't know if i want one :o
I really like the way my budget Z drives & feels :driving:

Don't blame you really, although as I've said before over the three years I've had mine, not lost a lot on it.

Still more than you paid for yours though

Think you could only make a profit on yours 8)

I'm pretty sure your gonna end up with something with an S54 under the bonnet ;)

I would still try putting 30th Nov on V5.. What have you got to lose?

Im buying another daily driver next weekend so how do i tax it if i dont have a V5 tax form and car not in my name until i recieve the registration back from the DVLA?
And ive taxed the Zed and pay monthly now from Jan, very easy to setup

You have the new owners slip, you can tax with that.

I decided not to do the monthly payment for my wife's car as the £15 premium is absurd for something that costs them next to nothing. Still not decided about my car as £500 is a lot of wedge to go all at once...

Going back to the original question though, I thought it was no the date the civil servant wakes up and processes the V5 change. Remember I mentioned that they got the Polo refund wrong, well, it took them about 10 days to process my sale which tipped it into the next month.
