How many Z4s have over 100k miles

As per the vanos seals, has anyone any tips on how to spot them needing work?

Anything technical, as in a test you can do on the system using logging gear?

Thanks

Dave

Have a look at this. My 2004 with 130K on the dial was improved by doing this. I now have an 06 which will get this as well.

HI All,
I am mostly a lurker anymore.
My car has 231,600 miles on it as I type this in.
Before you ask what has gone wrong with it, which has been quite a few things. After all it is a 1st year model or 11/02 build.
Ok, so the most expensive thing so far was the accident in 2/05. Took out the drivers side of the car.
I have reupholstered the seats, got a new top. Actually broke the frame and had to replace that as well.
Of course, the Vanos was done, new gas tank, same shocks, though..
I can't remember all taht has been done, but it still runs well :driving:
Recently, about 6k miles ago, I blew the Transmission  and rebuilt it. Only $2600.00
Hoping to hit 300k eventually :D :D

Just remembered this pic... :camera:
Cool Z4 being given the award for the highest number of miles for a Z4 at Home Coming 2008.

:D I am waiting for IMZ4N to inquire as to where the oil dip stick is on his (newer) car - :? it's doesnt appear to be in the same place as his other older z4 ...

oh, but then maybe he'd remember he pulled that trick on somebody earlier up on the road to arrowhead

:update:

Just ticked over 110,000

mileage.jpg

Been through its second set of rear springs since i bought it at 89k. New clutch kit a 105k, the plate was fine but the thrust bearing was starting to rattle.

I can see this car being a 'Triggers brush'. Its so tidy, even if the engine blows up i can have a second hand one fitted for £1500. Its going to take a sequence of catastophic breakdowns or a crash to stop this thing making 250,000 IMO.

I now stand at 23,233 KM (14,436 Miles). I just completed a three week US road trip 13,303 KM (8,266 Miles) and loved every mile of it.

Z4 isn't a car many people will clock up high miles in generally. I think if well cared, and driven correctly, they should easily see 200kmiles+ on original engine, even the M's!!

Im at 112,000 and have had zero engine issues whatsoever.
It starts and runs sweet as a nut :)

I think mine will become the oldest with the least miles. Bought it in May, a 53 plate with 43k and I do about 2,500 per year, all for fun. Planning on running with this car for at least 5 years given it's just a toy.

Currently 22k on my 53 plate - old boy who had it before used it as a 2nd/3rd car so quite a while until it hits a ton - Although very comforting to see that quite a few are on the way to 150k and 200k

I've had 2 318i's with over 170k miles on the clock. Both still running sweetly and not smoking or using oil.

I'd never be afraid to buy a high-mileage beemer. BMW make engines to last! :driving:

A Z4 isn't special enough to drive not often. It really is a daily driver by design. I've had no reason not to use my car for holidays, shopping trips and all sorts of stuff.

Even a Lotus Elise or VX220 is fairly 'nice' day to day.

I'd need a Caterham to not want to use it every day, and even then they are quite nice on the road... just the crappy roof if it's raining, and no good for shopping :D

Commuting in summer though, would be fine.

Hmm

Z4 2003 2.5

My baby has 117,546k on the clock.
I've owned it for two years and have replaced the following:

Headlights
Radiator
Coolant tank
Belt
Water Pipe to coolant tank
Rear Springs

Thankfully the engine sounds perfect..so I'm hoping that's it for a while

I was also wondering what the max mileage would be, as mine is driven every day and the didgits keep climbing.
230k hahaha, after reading that I'm going to relax
