How low is your Zed?

With Bing on that one with Eibachs in terms of ride etc. Perfect drop for me, haven't scraped on anything which I wouldn't have done so previously as OEM is low anyway.

Well even with the standard suspension my Zed is so low it picks up damage just from normal usage via speed bumps uneven car parks and driveways into places etc. So I just don't get why anyone would want to make the situation any worse. I'm leaving the whole lowering thing to the Saxo squad where it belongs. :poke: I'm not against modding but lowering is a load of toss compared to quad exhausts and superchargers as it decreases rather than increases the useability performance and enjoyment of the car.

If I lowered my Zed I'd never make it back out of most National Trust and English Heritage car parks!

So what is the difference in standard ride height between a 3.0SE and a 3.0i?

Just to clarify - there are two OEM suspension spec's for non ///M Z4s.

In general (there may be exceptions)

SE - this was standard on all "SE" designated 2.0i, 2.2i, 2.5i, 2.5si and 3.0si. This was the base suspension setup. More comfortable and softer ride.

M Sport - this came on all 3.0i pre-facelift and any facelift car that was designated a "Sport" model, irrespective of engine designation.

M Sport suspension had lower (c.15mm), stiffer springs. It also had different shock absorbers, stiffer anti roll bars and additional shock absorbers on the rear.

Ye sorry its not true. I live in the country the car basically lives on back roads, lake roads, always in national park car parks living in the lakes and being a photographer. Have never had an issue at all, but each to their own.

The H&Rs make the car feel very planted I find compared to the oem there is less understeer with the set up and the car doesn't bounce in the slightest. Ride is still crashy tho but improved over OEM. Also you dont have to worry so much about the springs snapping.

i find my eibach offer a better ride then stock sport springs too.

The drop with the M front is an occasional inconvenience but as the set of Eibachs cost the same as 2 rear OEM springs it was a no brainer!

Im not sure then Steve, put it this way the car is low! In comparison to standard cars and cars with eibachs. Looks much more aggressive

The ride is very hard but its a sports car so I dont mind :)

I can't argue Tom, I love the look of your car.

Everybody who asks for a ride in the ///M always comments on how "bumpy" the ride is and makes the "oh, you wouldn't want to go further than 20 miles in it though, would you!". My usual response is "well actually, I'd love to drive it to Adberdeen and back if I had the chance" :driving:

Hehe

Sorry guys was deliberately baiting the slammers there! I've had a string of kit cars that were slammed to the ground previously and just don't want my Zed any lower than it is as I'm an overweight middle aged automatic driver these days.

If you like your Zed lowered then go for it! Do the lowering kits come with the blue LEDs for your sills as standard or do you have to buy them seperately? :poke: :fuelfire:

Bing, what is the height drop on your Eibachs? How much do they normally cost?

Dropped about 15-20mm more than when on Sport springs. I think that the springs retail at £170 to £200... Not sure though as I got mine second hand and very cheap. Don't forget to factor in the cost of getting them fitted unless you have the gear and skills to do it yourself.

I will be able to fit them at home unless there's something strange about changing the springs on the Zed to other cars. I reckon a set of Eibachs might be the way for me to go then. Not wanting it as low as some on here, but needs to be dropped a bit.

If you've got xenons, watch for the levelling sensors. They're easy to break when lowering

I have aftermarket HIDs, so I should be ok on that front?

Worried about rubbing issues, having just bought 15mm front spacers and 20mm rears.

Rubbing issues whit 20mm lowering springs

I'm reading about a few people having rubbing issues with 15mm spacers on front and running Eibach springs.

You're never helpful Marius. f**k off.

Yeah I think Bing's front arch liner has a hole from rubbing on 108s with 15mm spacers and Eibachs.

The solution is to roll your arches (fold the metal lip in) or go or narrower spacers

Just about to drop my 3.0si 06 on sports springs to H&Rs which should give me about another 20 mm drop, what have I got to look for with the levelling sensors
si-forks is now tapa chatting in HD

Just watch not to bash them or break them I think.

I had my sprigs fitted by an Indy, so can't say exactly what to look out for. They are easily broken though, so take care

Marius I suspect it would be better if you didn't comment on Phil-E30's posts as there is obviously no love lost between the pair of you.

Thanks.
