Why has 'How long have you owned an E89?' turned into it's no M?
FFS 99% of E89 owners don't give a sh!t if it is or not! However it seems like the E89 has got a few M owners backs up for some reason!

Hi .. No the z4 is factory standard, the mirrors on this model come with matt silver from the factory

Just trying work out why mine comes with Black Mirrors. Is yours V. Orange ? With the normal roof ? My wing mirrors may be black due to the contrasting roof.

Very true, certainly got me covered. The biggest difference for me going from the MR to the 35i was the steering which took me many weeks to get used to.

It's the sdrive 35is that gets the silver mirrors. The 35i has normal mirrors. As far as I know

1) Mines an IS
2) normal would be Orange
3) Mine will be black

Believe it's due to the contrasting roof.

It's a tough question, yes an M is an M, but I do think the E89 35I/iS is an altogether more complete car, and in the way it doesn't make up for the power output say, it certainly makes up more for the look, the cabin, the kerbside appeal.....to more people that you'd think.

This from the man who has had an E89 but now wants a Z4M....only reason I don't want an E89 is because I've had one for 4 years

Starkers, you're missing the point, the thread is 'how long have you owned an E89' :roll:

I'm not saying either way if the E89 is up to M standards or not, I've never driven an M but I'm sure they are fantastic. What boils my piss is the few pompous minded bellends that think the M is the be all and end all of cars and continue to keep harping on about it, especially on a thread which has nothing to do with it.

Sorry, strongly disagree. An M is more than outright performance. The E89 does not have an Lsd which is vital for performance cars. The gearbox of the 35is is also not in the same league as say an M5 or M3 box. The e89 is a cruiser with decent performance but is nowhere near an M car.

The e89 drives more like a lighter SL, definitely some cruiser in the genes. You can also tell by the fact that there is some trunk left when the roof is open.

However, the e89 drives a lot sportier than almost all F30 variants

I dunno about speed. My 28i is insanely fast given the light body and low on extras.

4 years for me, swap it for an slk CDI. Not as much a sports car but much faster than my e89 2.3

Yeah but no trunk left and even the bench behind the seats is gone for all practical purposes. And the waistline is very high, with the roof closed it feels like looking out of a bunker.
