how is the price of gas affecting you driving your z?

Just wondered if any others are scaling back due to gas prices. Its about $3.75 for premium in the bay area. It certainly is changing the amount I get to enjoy my car.

I imagine if it's your daily driver/only vehicle, at those prices - yikes! :( Going for about 3.25 - 3.50 in my general area but as me and ovrkll found out from our drive last Sunday, it can vary as much as .75 cents a gallon. Consequently, it doesn't bother me at all because my Z's for playtime only :play:
It'd be a different story if it were my d.d.

$3.75. Don't make me laugh...

We're on around £1 per litre in the UK, so some basic maths 0f 4.54 ltrs/gal and exchange of $2.1/£ would get me to around $10 per Imperial gallon, or about $8 for a US gallon

(10% more if you choose 'Super' or 98 octane, decent stuff.)

Then see if you modify driving habits.

Are the UK roads any quieter over the last 5 years as prices soar?? Not one bit.

Not an issue for me at this point as I only drive about a 800 miles a month this time of year.... :)

Do the math...
your annual millage @ an extra 50 - 75 cents per.... probably not much more than 200 bucks.

= keep drivin' Rosie :D

I typically use my Z4 as a daily driver, so while I feel the pinch, I don't have much choice. With winter approaching, I will be swtching to my Explorer for most daily driving. While I can put lower cost regular gas in my Explorer, it turns out that the difference in gas milleage balances out and I end up paying just about the same $$/mile :-(

Yeah, though the Z is my daily driver atm, either way I get better gas mileage with it (well when I don't race it) than with my truck.

fni, I don't understand how a dd vs a 4 wheel drive vehicle comes into play. My z gets as good mileage as my much larger Altima and my Accord did. Doesn't the z get better then the other car you have?

Maybe its the cost of putting a kid through college that's affecting me more then the price of gas. Good thing she's coming home to go to a local school in Jan......then I can breathe again.

I figured it was much more expensive abroad, hee hee....thanks for making me feel better.

Its definitely affecting how much I get to enjoy my car. In the mean time, I'm staying home at thanksgiving and christmas too.

I drive on average 24-30 miles per day total. These gas prices pisses me off but not enough to curtail my driving habits.

At the exchange rate today, when I filled up it would cost $8.36 for a US gallon or $10.04 for one of ours :headbang:

Cost me equivalent of $148 to fill up

Bit slow tonight Mike - I posted those numbers an hour ago...lol

OK - I'll go back to my bluetooth reading.

Rosie - yes it does affect my driving. I calculated tonight my 4 vehicles have a total displacement of 15 litres, Hence I run 1 on LPG, have a second off the road garaged and laid up most of the time and use the Z4 whenever I can to minimise use of the X5 that really drinks the gas. Amazing on the same engine the Z gives me 30+mpg and the X around 19.

Better things to worry about...if I did any more miles I might consider a second car (probably a diesel). But mine is my daily driver, do about 18k miles a year and as said its a $110USD or so fill up. I enjoy every minute of every drive though so its worth it to me, and its not like we are alone - there are millions of cars over 3.0 litres on UK roads. I spend alot of time in Canada (Niagara/GTA region) and can fill up a Dodge Magnum (or whatever hire car I am given!) for less than half what it costs me to fill up here...its still too cheap to be a major issue over there IMO. Just enjoy it

:)

Rosie, my other car is actually a Chevy Silverado - with a re-built small block 350  , so I don't know that the gas mileage is any better per se, and probably a little worse when I'm driving it like a bat out of hell, so your point is well taken. However since I have a take-home car for work, I guess I don't feel the pinch either way. Still, I was moaning to ovrkll last Sunday about having to top off the Z so often.

mikedav: Diesel fuel is crazy expensive here! Same if not 5-10 cents more then premium! Those b@stards know what they're doing; they're going to get your money one way or another.. :headbang:

Mine is a daily driver, and if I was worried about gas prices, I wouldn't have bought it. I bought the car for the performance and looks, and performance is going to cost you no matter what. :driving:
