How far can i go

Hi, my z4 is showing up that it needs an oil service in 75 miles. I am away working all week and i plan to get it serviced this weekend. My question is, how long can you go before you are doing damage to the car, i have to do more than 75 miles before i get the car serviced. Is it safe the drive the car after the time is up and if so how many miles will i be able to do before it should really be serviced, thanks in advance

Depends on how you drive the car i would have thought. There will obviously be tolerances built in and it wont be a case of 'do 76 miles and explode' but id get it sorted sooner rather than later for the sake of service history etc?

Just make sure your oil is at the right level and get it done asap!

The car will be fine, but they may note the late service in the booklet. The number is just a conservative estimate.

My inspection II was 400 miles overdue in my old car but they made no note of it in the booklet.

It must depend on the place and maybe the car. When shopping for a car I saw some service booklets had the number entered (whether it was + or -). Others did not.

X 2 (to both).

i know, i know, i know, it's a very stupid question, but would you believe that when i brought it into BMW they said they wouldn't service it becasue it wasn't due a service yet, this was with 700 miles left on it, and i know there is a big difference between 700 and 75 but i do alot of driving, just don't want to f*ck the car up in any way, sorry for the stupid question

no question is stupid. The guys here always provide such helpful answers, one can really feel the LOVE they generate too! :fuelfire:

No such thing as a stupid question, there are of course a lot of people too stpuid to ask a question ;)

Like I said they give you a 1000 miles each way of the due mileage. This is to allow you to get your car in for a service and also to allow the dealer time to fit you in!
