how did you get into "sports cars"?

I bet your neighbours were jealous of all those red cars, nice starter set   I had a 67 Lotus Cortina and I'm not sure it even qualified as a sports car.

3 porsches, very well done

Always liked Sports cars but never thought about owning one when looking at a change my first choice was a Supra but then started looking at my budget and the first car that i noticed i could afford was an S2000 but i wanted a bigger engine and Auto so along come the 350z and Z4 i made the right choice and after owning a 2 seater roadster for 2 years i would not like to own anything else.

Never really think of my Z4 as a sports car more a roadster don't no why i suppose i think of sports cars as sitting a lot lower things like Lotus Elise or Morgan VX220 ect.

Mid life crisis car for me! It was a toss up between a rag top and a bike after 20 years. Thought the mortality rates for BAMBI's was a bit high. As I used to run beemer bikes and had several beemer cars it was a no contest. Plus you get the flies in your teeth driving feeling without a helmet, warm feet and good music I can hear.

I was generally just v interested in cars from arnd 10/11 yrs old(buying autoexprs etc at a fairly young age!) ,and was driving asap.
My 1st car was a wee 1yr old vauxhall nova 1.2(saloon) in white,then a modified 2yr old 1990 cavlr 2.0(lots of mods),thru others such as a new (IN 98) fiat bravo 20valve hlx,etc upto 2 new ,02and o3 reg,leon cupras(220bhp hot hatches),then the zed in 2007.
Despite the varied cars, always had a softspot for vauxhalls, and love the current ish monaro/vxr8's,and loved the leons, and the 328i(95 model) in m3 spec my mate and i owned in 97!!

As for "proper" sports cars,i have always done trackdays, since my early 20's,driving everything from mgf's & mx-5's,to 911 carreras/turbos,caymans/boxsters,ferrari f430s etc, dodge vipers(8ltr beast/couldnt stop donuting it,involuntry!,tho i was just 21 then);etc etc/tho my fav has to be the lambo muircielago lp640 i drove round thruxton a cpl yrs ago. a truly amazing sounding car, espcly when down changing
thru the paddlegears. awesome, and true(manly)handling feel. AMAZING. The z4 comes close/now it has non rft's and the bmw oe front strutbrace/great :D

my dad i think...he's owned a few old bmw's then few years ago pretty much fell in love with a 320m sport and never looked back
hes owned a 320, 330, X5, 120d, 320d, and now settled with an E92 convertible....its mine in 2 years i swear. :x

so ive pretty much followed the trend with the bmw's...the 116 i had wasnt that inspiring but better than usual things...and obv the 2.0 is just an absolute beast....

BEEEEMMMAAAAAAYYYYY

have i totally gone off topic?

Same here my parents have had BMW's for about 10 years. M3's, X5's, 3 series Coupe's, 3 series convertibles...currently an X5 and a 630 convertible. So i've always really liked BMW's and as they never had a single problem with any of them i knew they'd be reliable.
One of my ex boyfriends got me into cars when i was 16 so i was always at shows and track days and things, and my boyfriend after that who i met through the car scene was a car nut too. He has a 437bhp Vauxhall Astra GSi turbo tuned by himself from the standard 197! Was always at shows and track days with him too, and under the bonnets of cars most weekends so i simply wasn't going to have a boring, slow run of the mill car when i came to upgrade from my first car. So what did i come up with that was pretty fast, good looking, quite unusual and prefably BMW? The Z4 Coupe of course and i have never regretted my decision :D

It was fun, and my neighbors sort of saw the cars as area mascots or something - everyone always looked after them. I once broke up with a girl and we were going around and around about her returning my spare keys to the cars and apartment; she eventually returned them, all right - she left keys in the door to my 911 one night. My neighbors saw the keys in the car and called the police, who returned them to me. They were amazed I could laugh about it, but it really was so much like her to do that sort of thing. (She dumped me and has never forgiven me for not being more upset about it.)

Ironically, I sort of loathe Guards Red. I wanted a black 911SC but couldn't find one I liked. Once I decided to get the other two, sticking with red seemed easiest - there's no shortage of red 80s Porsches.

When I was very young, Dad strapped me into a car seat in the back. Later, I entered through the passenger door. These days I use the driver's door exclusively :D

In fact, I had my first driving lesson in a 1987 Porsche 944 and I was hooked.

I wanted to be fast and hook up with hot chicks, while also appearing rich and cool because its a BMW and most people cant really afford it :P

Lets see, well I had always had a vague liking/interest in sports cars. Sometime while I was in Germany, I got really annoyed with being on twisty roads in a small truck. That nontheless handled great and had power to boot, but alas not a sports car. So while driving around I began to look around for a car. Then I saw a Z4 on the road and fell in love with it. A couple years later I could afford one. Bought it I did.
Now that I had that car I was in Vegas, bloody hell only straight roads there and traffic on all of them. So I went on a car meet or three (even driving 2+ hours), some cars & coffee meets. Sometime in there got Bob to take me (and others) around California and that was super fun. Sometime in there I convinced myself to go to a local performance driving school (Pahrump, Nv) and while there enjoyed seeing all the other cars (porshe's mostly) go around the track. Somehow I managed to get away from there without a scratch or std (kidding, i never partook in any uhm horizontal activities there).
So now I'm here in the UK, been to a pistonheads meet as well as er My meet, had a blast, can't wait for better weather to do it again!

How did I get into sports cars....... well at first i used a bent wire coat hanger to lift the pillar lock, once in just broke open the ignition and crossed the wires  :poke:
